Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

Foot fetishism makes me Incredibly, irrationally angry and I don't know why, so when Avengers opened up with Gwyneth Paltrow's feet I was temporarily infuriated until Robert Downey, Jr's smooth delivery eased my soul and lifted my spirits. I think that's why I hate Tarantino. That and his chin. I t...

Re: Celebrity RIP Thread

Roger Moore. What a life lived to the fullest. The Saint, Bond, UNICEF, being knighted, etc. Plus, by all accounts I've read, a cool, witty guy who was one of the only Bond actors to truly be grateful for being James Bond, even years after the fact.

Brb, firing up Carly Simon.

Re: [LAEM] Would an american Evangelion live-action movie have ever worked if it had been done right?

EDIT: most of my points below were ninja'd by GendosPapa. I agree with just about everything he posted. The only way a LAEM would be able to do justice to the source without comprimising facets of the story for broad market appeal would be if it's being done by a well-known filmmaker who has the cl...

Re: Star Trek

TNG, which is ultimately the show that was responsible for kickstarting the franchise and extending it nearly another two decades non-stop, had not 1 but 2 seasons of episodes that were mostly mediocre or just plain bad. This is something that is agreed upon by mostly everyone. The fact that it got ...

Re: Star Trek

Watched the trailer. Perhaps it's because we haven't had a Trek series for roughly a dozen years, but the visual aesthetic and production design smacks heavily of Kelvin-timeline Trek. It's jarring and kind of unwelcome given that this is supposed to take place in the Prime (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT)...

Re: Best boy

There are a couple of different reasons the series gives us for why Shinji pilots. 1. Like with his cello, it was something he was good at and no one ever told him to stop. It eventually consumes him to the point when, at his lowest, it's literally the only thing he believes he can do. From ep. 26: ...

Yes. That's the scene I don't think Lynch will be able to top in terms of sheer WTF.

Re: What are you watching right now? (tv series + see OP!)

Twin Peaks. This is one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen. Not until you watch American Gods . I just finished a rewatch of Twin Peaks about a month ago, and was certain that with Lynch helming all 18 episodes of the new series that it was gonna be the most bizarre, surreal TV show of the...

Debateable with 1.0, as it's largely made up of recycled cuts, albeit freshly animated, from episodes 1-6.

Re: Ghosts of Evangelion

How did Kyoko and Kaji come back to life? I thought they were dead, why are they there? Is it the ghost thing? Anyone can return to human form as long as they can imagine themselves in their own heart. Don't worry. All living things have the ability to return to their original form... and the heart...

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender (WTF is your avatar/sig from?)

Don't worry, I'm still in Anno-esque holding-leg-off-roof despair about political matters, but a couple things have happened in the last week to brighten my dour mood. In honor of hipster king, style icon, and all around chill-ass mothafucka Jeff Goldblum signing on for the next Jurassic Park movie,...

Re: Should Asuka die in the final film?

It should be noted that Anno is supposedly in a better place psychologically than he was in late 1996-early 1997 when he was writing end of Evangelion so I wouldn't expect as many deaths as there were in that film. I mean, dude has a hot wife who he obviously has a good relationship with. That goes ...

Re: Anno statements about End of Evangelion

The best assumption to make about how 25 and 26 would have originally turned out is that 25 would focus on the invasion of NERV, Asuka's final battle, and up to the point when Shinji gets tanged in P3I Instrumentality. Episode 26 would have begun relatively where the playground scene begins in EOE. ...
