Re: Forum Wackiness
Chiming in here to report I've been having similar issues with being logged off randomly even though I'm actively using parts of this forum. This may seem kinda late in comparison to SSD and robersora's posts, but I generally don't log on here very frequently anymore. I've cleared all my cookies and...

Re: Stuff that you would like to see in Evangelion 3.0+1.0
If there is one thing I'm almost certainly NOT expecting to see in Thrice Upon a Time , it's Shinji becoming romantically involved with one of the other characters. The farthest I expect Anno to go in that direction is that Shinji gets kissed by another character (my money's on Sakura, Team Nurse). ...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media
Maybe Masayuki is the director of the mysterious 2022 project Anno hinted at in his last paper lantern for that festival? (Shrugs) This seems like it could be the case. Masayuki's worked on Anno's productions for the majority of his career, so he might be Anno's ace in the hole to start preproducti...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media
I'm very intrigued by Masayuki's absence from involvement on this film. Other than Tsurumaki, he's the most senior director at Khara and has been under Anno's wing dating back to Gunbuster. Kinda odd that he would all of a sudden pull out now, when 3.0+1.0 will be the grand finale to the Evangelion ...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media
So, the light at the end of the tunnel turned out to be not one, not two, but three oncoming freight trains heading right for Shinji.
Seems about right.

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media
Once again, Anno manages to subvert expectations in a way that would make even Rian Johnson blush. I don't think ANYONE on Earth could have predicted "Thrice Upon a Time" as being the official subtitle for this film. Another interpretation of the title, apart from BlueBasilisk's is that 3....

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread
Surprising that it seems like there's a lack of discussion about The Mandalorian in this thread, but maybe I just missed it. I think it's easily the best Star Wars-affiliated content to come out during my lifetime and was a refreshing watch after the clusterfuck that was TRoS. I love how different i...

Re: Shin Ultraman
If Anno’s only serving as a producer / screenwriter for Shin Ultraman, that could open the door to the possibility of him directing Nausicaa 2 in 2022. Think about it. His duties as a screenwriter are probably done already and the film is in preproduction now. As a producer, he doesn’t have to overs...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion
When did this quote happen? lol During the siege of NERV in the first half of EOE, there's a shot that lasts about 5 seconds long that starts out with some JSSDF goon firing a flamethrower down a hallway, presumably roasting some NERV staff. He fires it once, then pauses, and fires again. Amanda Wi...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion
The subs have Dan's name credited at the end right there on the screen, so there's no need to feel uncertain about it. My uncertainty was more so based on whether or not he's Khara's in-house translator, which apparently I guess he is. Great, so now we know who to crucify...I'm still sticking to ca...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion
I've heard it mentioned in this thread that Dan Kanemitsu was the translator that worked on the English scripts for NGE and EOE for this new sub/dub. Isn't he Khara's in-house translator that they use to verify accuracy of Japanese > English translations? I mean, say what you will about the performa...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion
I've watched a bunch of episodes now with the new dub, and it's kinda cemented my earlier opinions. The new dub is a moderate improvement overall, and Asuka's new VA is inarguably the biggest improvement over the previous dub. I also just noticed that they corrected that one scene in 22 where they l...

Re: Netflix Release General Discussion
Outside of dub/soundtrack/translation feedback, one thing I was surprised to see was that EOE received the same TV-14 rating that the rest of the main series received. Kinda surprised since, you know: -The hospital scene -Asuka's death scene -Rei being naked for like 90% of her onscreen time -Multip...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion
I think they also took out both F-bombs that the original dub had. I could do without the Misato one, but taking out "I'm so fucked up" and replacing it with "I'm the lowest...of the low" takes a lot of punch out of the end of that scene. It's another instance of the disadvantage...

Re: Netflix Release General Discussion
Well, I guess the value of all of our Platinum boxsets are in no danger of plummeting. In terms of FMTTM, I think Netflix just decided to skimp on this because autoplay cuts off about 2/3 of the end credits and they probably felt that licensing 26 versions of the same song wasn't worth it. But this ...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion
So, I watched Death(True)2, EOE, and a few episodes and here are my general thoughts: I think that the casting in general is better than the old dub. The teens actually sound like teens and not late 30-something VA's pitching their voices higher to sound youthful. McKeon in particular is a marked im...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
While there's nothing inherently wrong with critiquing a performance, something just rubs me the wrong way about her tone. We're only a few hours from when it officially drops, so I guess we'll know soon enough about the whole English Dub situation. I think I'll probably watch the dub version of DEA...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
As an aside—why the hell wasn't the dub cast announced before the upcoming streaming release? And is it possible that dub cast replacements are related to ongoing voice actor strikes? I would have thought that at least by now, with less than a month until the release, Netflix would have given at th...

Re: Star Trek
She was also a pretty good director as well. The sole episode that she directed in the final season (" Genesis") had a script that was corny enough (the crew de-evolves) to seem like it was from the first or second seasons of the show, but she was able to get some pretty good performances ...
