Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

I've being watching KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! . The first season was really wonderful - combining generous humour with greatly flawed but relatable characters, especially the MC, Kazuma Satou, in silly but fun situations. Sadly, season two is turning out to be a huge letdown....

A kind of performance art? It has the possibility to create a reaction in the viewer, so there's that.

Anyway, that aside:

Re: The Satire of Evangelion

IRegarding the eye, which we don't actually see until episode 02: yes, that is the first clue the Evas are not simply robots, that there is "more than meets the eye" so to speak. What about moving spontaneously to protect Shinji in episode 1? More ambiguous but still a clue. I suppose the...

Re: How many Evangelion TV Subs are there

An arbitrary number, as many people have taken their favourite bits from several and possibly added their own phrases, and I think it's probably now impossible to untangle which are true independent originals to count or how many people/groups made significant contributions. That's not meant to be d...

Heh! In this case I disagree with you completely, and would reverse those comments between the films.

Re: Is it impossible for Shinji and Asuka to love one another?

Their experiences may be alien to others, but their reactions are all too human - that, of course, is why the series is so relatable to so many of those who watch it. This is not so different from military PTSD sufferers, who may need to be part of a support group with members who have shared their ...

Re: Is it impossible for Shinji and Asuka to love one another?

I think that however close they may remain on the basis of shared or similar experiences, their lives would be blighted by their being together permanently. They each need to live with someone who can offer a different perspective to help them put their traumas in their place. If they lived together...

Re: Is it impossible for Shinji and Asuka to love one another?

I don't know why we should be taking account of what a seiyuu says or thinks. She didn't construct the character... Because they are given guidance on the character to help their performances? Their views are hardly automatically worthless, at least in this case, given that Anno was prepared to let...

Re: Illegal torrent trackers tumbling down (tumbling down)

A few, though not many, Japanese Blurays have been released with English subs. And Japanese BDs are usually region-free, even though the corresponding DVDs are region-locked.

Re: EVA 2.0 OST= Kare Kano OST? WTF???

but can you discard the theory? I bet you can't. I can discard a theory for which there is no evidence as easily as you can propose it. I mean, first Kare Kano, then Nadia, maybe another one in 3.0 + 1.0... It seems a little suspicious, don't you think? What's suspicious? He wanted to do that; end ...

Re: EVA 2.0 OST= Kare Kano OST? WTF???

It's not the same thing. Bach and others (like Pink Floyd) have done that, but the difference is, the pieces which are recycled are part of an estructure. Bach uses his previous work to include them (amongst others) within an estructured work, I mean his Mass in B minor has 4 parts, and each one ha...

Reichu#863322 wrote:"Seriously, who the fuck uses hard subs anymore? *torrents MKV files*"

People with older devices that don't support soft subs in MP4s and don't support MKVs at all - there has to be a reason that there are groups devoted to making hard-subbed MP4 versions of soft-subbed releases.

Re: EVA 2.0 OST= Kare Kano OST? WTF???

In Eva 3 - Q's soundtrack he goes on to pay tribute to his Nadia soundtrack. There's nothing wrong with recycling your greatest hits - J.S.Bach did it all the time (the whole of his B-minor Mass is reworkings of movements from his cantatas, and it's still regarded as perhaps his greatest work).

Re: Everything is Rockin'! [RML Thread 4]

Since I last came to stay here up an Italian mountain they have got the Internet! It's a satellite link, and so although the speeds are good, the ping is a whopping 800ms, so complicated pages are slow to load simply because setting up each TCP conversation is slower than usual. Anyway, hence my bei...
