Re: C.T.1290 versus Asuka. Examining the good and bad.

is it much an excuse for her to be rude to people? Or is it all a defense mechanism that she reacted with purely on instincts in order to survive? Yes and yes. Unless you're one of those people (as you often come across to us) who believes that mental illness and trauma are no more than signs of we...

CT1290: "I think it's obvious why some abandon or hurt her, because of the way she is." Paul: "Are you including her parents in this?" CT1290: "Maybe, depending on if she is like that even in her early childhood." OK, you qualify it a bit more than I've quoted, but you ...

Re: Rei's Diet

Sorry, older thread and off topic of discussion, but fish is not considered a fruit or vegetable. You cannot be a vegetarian and eat fish. Of course fish are not vegetables; but language is defined by usage and not logic - whether you like it or not, many people use the word "vegetarian" ...

Re: Does Shinji deserve all the hate?

I don't think anyone here glosses over the hospital room scene from EOE. Most posters here would agree that was a despicable act, regardless of Shinji's emotional instability. It can be hard to categorise a victimless 'crime', though. What's worst about Shinji in that scene is his attitude towards ...

The question would be meaningless if those who stated her origin actually didn't realise that distinction. Which it seems to me, frankly, not a few "English" don't either.

If you are not embarrassed to insist repeatedly and publicly on your lack of sympathy or understanding for those whom you judge not to meet your standards, there is nothing more I can say.

Re: C.T.1290 versus Asuka. Examining the good and bad.

Honestly, is there any good characters in the show Define "good". completely rotten to core like Gendo, Asuka, or Shinji? Two of those, at least, have suffered childhood trauma and mistreatment. You imply that anyone who can't rise above such things without help is irremediably "bad&...

Re: EoTV/EoE Episodes Concurrency Project

I've been seeding it all along; but the torrent file has the old tracker URL. I've (just now) added the new tracker in my server (as I've done, apparently successfully, on some other torrents), but I don't know if that will update the torrent file on nyaa - I'm a bit hazy on the workings of bit-torr...

Re: Ayanami and Autism

And honestly, with all the medical websites out there, you cite Wikipedia for autistic symptoms? :facepalm: The medical school at Oxford University, no less, actually uses Wikipedia as a teaching resource in some areas (it's particularly good on anatomy, I believe) - though obviously not alone, and...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

I didn't know what to expect, but I appear to have got a mashup of Cowboy Bebop (the cool), Elfen Lied (the gore), FLCL (the pace & zaniness), and Haruhi (the out-of-order story-telling). I'm only four episodes in, but really enjoying it.

But "what?", you ask;

Re: News [NO POLITICS]

On the up-side, getting a dump of kernel (snap-shot or live-ish) is one thing; figuring out what it all means is a whole new problem. Having once had to interpret the microcode from a binary dump of a chip (without even the help of separation of code and data), I can testify to that - and it was sm...
