Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

In my week of anime viewing, I saw episode 1 of Martian Successor Nadesico, episodes 1-4 of Tenchi Muyo! OVA series Japanese subbed then for comparison, I tried out the first episode English dubbed. Since I saw Nadesico subbed and I hadn't seen it in a long time, I have to say that the voice work is...

Re: The Official Ace Combat Thread

My favorite of the series to this day is AC4: Shattered Skies. I never finished it because every time I played it, I would always get stuck crashing down on the sixth level and I didn't even know until I watched a Walkthrough video on YouTube that there's a fleet in the sea that you have to take out...

Re: Digimon: Digital Monsters

I mean how many people remember Monster Rancher? I do. Still got the ADV Films tapes from back in the day. I also remember watching most of the first season on Fox Family as a weekend long marathon. The big plot twist being that Moo, the big bad, turned out to be Holly's father *Hello Empire Strike...

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II

Went ahead and saw episodes 1 and 2 of Twilight Axis a little while ago today. From what I could gather of the shortness of length of each episode, Arlette is a child prodigy who was acquainted with either Char or Full Frontal, I can't remember which since they wear similar clothing and are of simil...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Hajimete no Gal episode 1 Certainly brings a lot to the table in how to get away with censorship of the naughty bits without using the usual white mosaic. Like a huge heart in Yukana's panty shots and female hands covering her breasts in Junichi's fantasies during the confession scene. That aside, ...

Starship Troopers 3: Marauder While the action is not on par with the first this being a smaller production, it did present some ideas of how religion can be used as a weapon from both good and bad angles in a war situation. I look forward to the upcoming Traitor of Mars which will bring back Dina ...

Re: The Official Sailor Moon thread

Well, it's been a long time coming but as of today, I FINALLY got through season 1 in it's entirety! :D Sailor Moon's fellow Guardians paying the ultimate price for her to go it alone and defeat Queen Beryl each had their own emotional sendoff especially with Rei making peace with Usagi and regretti...

Re: Digimon: Digital Monsters

Episode 08 of Digimon Adventure tri. Ketsui in the bag! SO glad Joe finally got over his cowardice since he was reeling in it for the past few episodes. And don't think I didn't notice that faint smile in part of Himekawa when Meicoomon got infected and attacked Leomon. It's always the cold as stone...

I have been starting to go bald for at least five to six years and I am seriously contemplating going full Vin Diesel the next time I go to the barbershop.

Got my head outta the gutter this morning to watch Jupiter Jazz Part 2. Powerful material from the history between Gren and Vicious down to the beautiful, dulcet tones of the ending song "Space Lion". Gonna be stuck with that melody in my head all the time now that I got it on my iPod as s...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Finally after a couple months of delays, I finished off Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow. I think it took some time getting through the whole thing because of the teenage drama and absence of Zabi family members reminding us that there is a big bad that needs it's well deserved punishment b...

Finished watching Atlantis: The Lost Empire. An underrated gem in a world overtaken by Disney musicals generating more box office and also one of my personal favorites. Props to Rourke being a despicable Disney villain so vile that you feel so darn good when he gets his comeuppance.

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Went for the theatrical cut of Fifty Shades Darker . Definitely accomplished it's goals of being a better installment than it's predecessor. The Christian/Ana chemistry was radiant; idk why critics say it wasn't there; Christian's backstory is developed very nicely, and it wouldn't be a review witho...

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II

I'll be receiving my copy of The 08th MS Team BluRay by Tuesday morning.

For a love story, we see so little Shiro/Aina interaction. Only at select points in the story and the final episode doesn't even have them say a word since it's a side quest that never got fully developed.

Re: Amanda Winn-Lee and Her Apathy toward Eva

It's official, she really hates my guts. I tried to apologize through her Facebook and Twitter pages about my mean words involving her own family members but she understandably won't hear any of it. That's what I get for abusing the power of free speech and it cost me what could've been a connection...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Episodes 17 and 18 of Aquarion . At first glance, the main concepts of the episodes border on filler territory but they did bring out some beautiful renderings and meaningful monologues about team unity. Plus the OP song finally changed by ep. 18 which for a 26 episode series would raise flags about...

Re: The James Bond Thread

As far as the Pierce Brosnan films and I are concerned, Goldeneye is a must see and must repeat frequently with interesting enough, Die Another Day as not that much of a guilty pleasure but a callback to the Roger Moore days of Bond silliness. The World Is Not Enough is slightly more memorable and b...

Re: Shin Gojira (a.k.a. Godzilla Resurgence)

Finally gave in and watched the Resurgence version of the movie since no theater in my country has the uncut version. It was a very well rounded reboot which made excellent use of most of the central characters; I say "most" because despite Satomi Ishihara getting third top billing, pretty...
