Re: How many scenes in Death and Rebirth were remade with new footage?

It was moved from Evangelion discussion.

Thanks a lot for the link. Hadn't been aware of that post. Are you a mod BTW?

How many scenes in Death and Rebirth were remade with new footage?

I only noticed two scenes. The first is the scene in episode 6 where Shinji opens Rei's entry plug and tells her to smile. As can be seen from these screenshots they are completely different. https://i.imgur.com/wRSYap3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7qEN1Ie.jpg The other is the scene in episode one where ...

Re: Misconceptions on Anno & fanservice

That's not clear at all, as there are any number of ways to read the themes and intent of the show. It actually can be read as a statement against sexism and gratuitous fanservice, and there's a lot of support for such a reading in the show. There's just support for lots of other readings as well. ...

Re: Misconceptions on Anno & fanservice

When it's become a crucial plot device it's gotten to the level where it's no longer really fanservice, though. The point with KLK is that there's a lot of room to talk about what's going on and why, and that the fanservice it does employ is very rarely gratuitous (though there are some obvious exc...

Re: Misconceptions on Anno & fanservice

Your entire premise. The notion that the show isn't making a statement just plain doesn't work given that it is what it is, and the notion that it doesn't critique fanservice doesn't work since it does just that on several occasions. Your claim that such notions are delusional fails on account of s...

Re: Misconceptions on Anno & fanservice

Dude, the show is about clothes. It is insanely self-aware, and the notion that any fanservice it employs is not without explicit purpose is nonsensical. Your entire premise here just doesn't make any sense. What exactly, doesn't make sense? I haven't made the claim that "fanservice it employs...

Re: Misconceptions on Anno & fanservice

It's not really a delusion in Kill la Kill , though, since it's actually an explicit part of the text. But if you're talking about Misato's butt shot or Asuka's crotch shot or the test suit in Ha there's a bit more room to argue. I find it a very unlikely interpretation that the creators were tryin...

Re: Misconceptions on Anno & fanservice

This is related to a general sort of self-hatred that seems to exist among certain western anime fans. They hate certain aspects of anime, such as fanservice, moe etc. Because of this they often delude themselves into thinking that the fanservice in a show they like is "ironic" or a "...

The sequence seemed more imitating all of the slice of life shows in the 80's (back then, they were long running and enormously popular, like the 101 episode "Touch"), not at all the other way around. That's what made it so jarringly contrasting. Scenes like that are right...

Yeah, but there were a few other tropes in that scene too, like a childhood friend who comes to wake up the protagonist every morning and has a romantic interest in the protagonist, a hot transfer student, a hot "older" female teacher, and probably a few that others that i missed. I've...

About the slice of life alternative reality in episode 26

I've always wondered, what anime or manga is that inspired from? The only slife of life anime i know are way later than evangelion, but it's not like that small segment could be without precedent or without inspiration in other anime.
