Re: Why did Asuka tell Shinji she didn't receive his help?

Yeah, I think this is just referring to Shinji not looking for Asuka's entry plug after her Eva self-destructed. The "save the princess" line was delivered after her ejection, if I recall.

Wikipedia says their option was perpetual, and that it was simply Gainax's illegal refusal to accept payment that was the issue. Was it resolved / determined then?

Re: How did Evangelion's rights shift?

I wonder how this will affect the NGE live action movie... it was Gainax that was giving it legal problems, right?

Yes, I was making a snide comparison (of ANIMA) to eva-r, and Jaeger was clarifying what ANIMA was.

I've recently started playing Halo the Master Chief Collection on Heroic with the Iron Skull turned on (the one that makes me go back to the beginning of the level if I die) for realism (since I already beat all the games on Legendary). It's changed the feeling of playing the...

I have the impression that "Killing God" is a heck of a background story for 4.0 to take up. That's if you subscribe to the interpretation that by 'God', Seele and Gendo did not mean Kaworu. (Not to push us off-topic).

If you think Q was written to a calculation of the audience's reaction, you're barking up the wrong treee. If by wrong tree, you mean this forum, it was my understanding that those who hated Q were as plentiful as those who liked it. If on the other hand, you mean tree by Anno, I think he&#...

Under that interpretation, FreakyFilm, it might be a comment on Anno's original intent to remake the series with these films. In shattering such an intention, it also rubs up against the viewers' expectations. (Not that I'm distancing my own opinion so much from my post.) This is...

Imagine if he features new love and hate mail in 4.0, like he did in End of Eva; Then with however he ends it, the viewership turns on itself in classic "Pretentious fans vs. Mouth-breathing haters" fashion.

3.0 as Anno's criticism of classic NGE fans

One way that I enjoy interpreting 3.0 in isolation of its impending sequel, is thematically through the lens of it anticipating the negative reaction it will receive from fans of the original series. Just as the viewer might long for the 'good old days', Shinji does so as well. Just as the v...

'Return to Ash' is a phrase used often in the latter end Paradise Lost, to signify Man's punishment for sinning. There was also an act when Michael brought Adam to a vision to show the future repercussions of his sin. I think one of them was a razed battle-field showing the after-math of...

Rebuild's Operatic pieces as a soundtrack to Paradise Lost

(This topic is concerning the origin/meaning behind much of Rebuild's English soundtrack, so I put it here. Otherwise, it might be switched to Completely and Utterly Off-topic, or alternatively, Off-the-Wall Theories.) I was thinking the other day what kind of music would work well as a ...

I'm listening to The Hero with a Thousand Faces currently. I've noted that whether intentionally or not, Evangelion's conclusion to Shinji's journey is an inversion of that of the Hero's Journey on all 3 counts: -The Father receives retribution instead of reconciliation. (Gen...
