I grew up in a small town in Austria, without todays luxury of an internet access and as a child I always liked those cartoons with the "fancy bangs" - not knowing anything about Anime. I totally got into Sailor Moon and a friend told me about an "Anime magazine" that she ordered...

For the record: I didn't know tang either. (grew up in Austria, currently living in Germany) I think what changed MOST is the sound of cicadas. Totally NGE, what has been heard can't be unheard! A lot of "urban decay" stuff: overhead cables, concrete buildings, skyscrapers ...

The only names that would work are Maya (since it is already a common name) or Mari (although it yould be probably pronounced like Marie) but I don`t like these names ..
