Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

I meant Ennis, not Ellis.I always get them mixed up. Millar writes exploitative garbage to cash in on movie rights deals now. He used to be good. Kick-Ass eventually joins 'Justice Forever', a superhero team of which his friends Marty and later Todd are members. Led by the repentant born-aga...

Ellis is a smarter Mark Millar. I'll be skipping.

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

Godzilla 2014 is two hours of edging with no pay off. I still liked it, because Godzilla. I hope American Kaiju becomes a thing (there’s already a monster verse as well as Rampage, Pacific Rim, and Cloverfield) It reminds me of the development of superhero movies: Cloverfield is analogous to Blade, ...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

What I want to know is why no one can make a Godzilla movie with more than ten minutes of Godzilla. Doesn’t matter if it’s $100m worth of CGI, a rubber suit and puppeteers, or animation. A Godzilla movie is not a Godzilla movie unless the meetings about Godzilla run longer than the Godzilla scenes. ...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

I had the distinct feeling while watching that they padded out the first act of a three act story into a stand-alone movie.

Also it’s incredibly weird how they managed to make an animated Godzilla look like a rubber toy.

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

You're in for a treat if you haven't seen it, it's brilliant.

I watched the anime last night. It was... direct to video quality. The premise was really interesting, actually, but the characters were not.

Also whoever did the subtitles did a really, uh, awkward job with it.

Re: The Subject of Hair

Hair is a sexual display. Healthy people have thicker and more lustrous hair and sickly people have thin, brittle hair. Different cultural complexes attach to different body parts but in general most social displays are about the person's ability to father/conceive/carry/care for children.

Re: Blade Runner franchise

I saw this. I thought it was meh. The twist was nice, and well set up, but I felt like it didn't know where to end itself and I didn't really connect with Gosling's character. Also it struck me as odd that the protagonists are omnipotent and omniscient but no when the story demands otherwise. It fel...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

After having the droids gratuitously shoved in our faces during the prequel era I'm glad they have cameo roles only. I get the whole thing of the two droids being involved in everything and why they're there and how they were inspired by Japanese theatre but the prequels just made them feel so force...

Re: Controversial Anime Opinions

Tumblr posts look like someone sat down and said, "You know what our social platform needs? The readability Twitter and the design flexibility of MySpace." Also it's easy to tell those girls apart. I don't even need to know what show they come from. The blonde one with the big tits is the ...

Re: Controversial Anime Opinions

Some people look at giant boobs and ask why, some people look at not giant boobs and ask, why not. "Small" breasts on a typical anime girl are already wildly out of proportion for an actual human being, might as well commit to it. Go big or go home. Also for the sake of being a miserable p...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

The claw-ish thingy on the front always made me think it was supposed to grip things and push them around. I don't now if it makes sense for a space forklift to have interstellar flight capability, though. Pushing cargo in space probably makes more sense than pulling it, I suppose. Easier to ma...

Rogue One Honest Trailer.

Normally I wouldn't bother posting something like this, but it points out there are a lot of missing scenes from the trailer that are absent from the movie. Is there any chance we'll ever see them?
