Re: ITT: You wish fictional characters a Happy Birthday.

I'm a little belated because of being at work, but no Shinji. :) We haven't forgotten your birthday, and we all wish you the best that this year will have to offer you. Take care, and know that you are loved. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/4f/56/3f/4f563f852c2bd67b139c09ea1a3c305e.jpg

Re: An Insider's Look

Considering how varied Asuka is, and how varied her aspects thus far are, that's a pretty impossible question to answer. XD I don't think I could narrow it down to something akin to the Emotions from Inside Out. This is something I think I'll more than likely will be surprised. XD

Re: An Insider's Look

The latest chapter you have Gryphon has a good balanced approach when it comes to the interactions between Shinji and Asuka (or rather aspects of Asuka). And what I mean by that is that you portray them BOTH as flawed individuals, desperately trying to make some connection with each other, but becau...

Re: An Insider's Look

^ An UNDERSTATEMENT, to say the least. Asuka is a big bundle of contractions within herself. She wants to be an "adult", but she acts very childish in her rebuttals and double standards. Lash out at others, pushing them away, but she's also very alone. I wouldn't be surprised if she had in...

Somehow, I have a good feeling that this was an internal battle LONG within the making for Asuka. :P

Re: If Shinji commits suicide...

^I actually hadn't thought about it myself until I was editing that post. -o-; But I do think there's something to it. Wille has no way of knowing what Kaworu or Fuyutsuki told Shinji and all Shinji told Asuka was that 1) he was piloting the Eva to change the world, and 2) the Spears are their last...

Pffft. XD Nice one Gryphon. XD If only all this WAS a dream and Shinji was living the AU.

Happy April Fools. :)

Re: An Insider's Look

Sorry I took so freaking long to actually sit down and review this story for once proper. And thus far, I have to say, I'm REALLY liking both the premise and the style. Excellent idea of using the Arael attack to help bridge the gap between Asuka and Shinji. And massive kudos for Misato for actually...

Re: Will Anno Try To Top The "Hospital Room Scene"? Can Anything Be As Messed Up?

Honestly, I think showing an attempt at suicide would be akin to the infamous "hospital room scene", showing just how far Shinji has fallen and would add to the dramatic depth of the movie. Now, before any of you give me that look, I do NOT want Shinji to die at all, but I think the ATTEMP...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

And how is your definition of "nihilism" any different than "straw nihilism"? Even earlier, you kept telling us that Shinji's release from Instrumentality was only prolonging the "agony" as it were, when he was trying to survive; not to mention the comment of saying &qu...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

^ It's simply what the modern term is called "Edgelord/Joker Philosophy", thinking that being negative about the world and not caring equates to some manner of maturity. That becoming unfeeling or uncaring makes you a more "heightened" individual. But that type of mentality is no...

Re: Rebuild outside of Evageeks: Many reactions

Reichu is just saying that opinions change over time, naturally. Initial reactions to a film are not always going to be the same when you revisit it. Some films require multiple viewings in order to gain a full appreciation for. It can be seen in films that employ effective twists that change the p...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

^ Why do you guys feel the need to try to overwrite every hopeful message we try to say into some extremist negative views to the point where the tangent doesn't even makes sense? Is reality that bleak to you all that you have to bring us down to your level to "enlighten" us? What's wrong ...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

^ Exactly, and that's the PROBLEM with all these "nihilist fans" who think how EoE ended, it means nothing matters because "Shinji FAILED", when it was quite the opposite. Shinji STOPPED instrumentality and gave humanity the chance to return. It will take a long time to recover, ...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

^ No, but you both are being equally as depressing. Ever wonder why people flock to Evangelion, or a least people who have struggled with social situations or depression? Because Evangelion resonates with them, because we have been there. And the message of hope at EoE or the TV series (regardless o...

Of course we, mere heretics and pagans, copuld never properly interpret your god's work like you do XD https://i.imgur.com/zoAB5Un.jpg Just because we actually try to remain optimistic towards Evangelion doesn't mean we think Anno is a "God". Stop saying we pander to Anno just because we ...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

^ KEEP TRYING! That's the thing about hope, it's never ending, and just stewing in your own misery isn't going to help that. Hope is what keeps us going, it's what helps us look for a better tomorrow, even in the little things. Yes, there's a lot of crap in the world, but there's also good in the wo...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

I take the most realistic approach, because yes, hope will not lead you to anywhere. Okay, I'm just gonna get this out RIGHT NOW: Grimdark does NOT equal REALITY, nor does it equate to "realism" in the realm of fiction. Realism in fiction is just the acknowledgement of consequences of act...

Re: What do you think Gendo was like at Shinji's age?

Retreating into a fantasy of the world, and striving to make a change in the world when you know it's corrupted are two different things, and I think Anno would support the latter. The latter requires you to acknowledge the "reality" of the world, but you strive to make a change, instead o...

Then you better get used to us debating you over this, just as your validations for their toxicity are just as "opinions" to us about their ability to grow and reconcile.
