Re: C.T.1290 versus Asuka. Examining the good and bad.

^ Pretty much. You have it cemented in your mind that Asuka is a bad person, no matter the "excuses", and when we try to show you evidence that contradicts your believe, you keep asking the same question in different ways, just so somehow you get an answer that correlates with your belief....

Re: These Moons Were Made For Walking (Weird Image Thread 8)

Em..that's the reason why I find it so messed up, its like a happy care free drawing about hanging yourself in vivid detail and I heard the artist who draw it got a lots hatred over it. And the artist didn't expect this to happen? :P Apparently it's 2deep :P Doesn't mean that we should like it or t...

Re: EGF's House of Lonely Hearts

And honestly, how does costent devalue the intamacy of a relationship? If anything, consent, where BOTH parties are willing, enhances the eros of the act of making love, and thus stirs the fires of passion. Like Gob said Ran1, your idea of "consent" leaves me dubious about your future rela...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

NO, that's not what we're saying. We're saying that this topic itself, between Shinji and Asuka, has been done to DEATH here.

I personally think that they can make it work because of their experiences, but if you want to believe that they should never see each other again, that's your opinion.

Re: C.T.1290 versus Asuka. Examining the good and bad.

^ Wouldn't it be more like a "Paranoid" egomaniac that's more like Asuka? Because from what I've seen, she's an egomaniac because she has a deep-rooted fear that if she's not the best at EVERYTHING, even by a little, she'll be tossed aside and forgotten like garbage by those around her, wh...

Re: How many people in this forum would support an Instrumentality for mankind?

^ Yeah, I'm with Gob. This conversation has been milked to the point of it being so WROUGHT with bacteria, that there's no point in drinking this anymore. You think the world is not worth being in? Fine, that's YOUR problem. As for the rest of us, we're quite content and happy with our existence, so...

Re: How many people in this forum would support an Instrumentality for mankind?

^ Again, your argument is pretty flawed in that paragraph alone. "Being human doesn't mean "intelligent" or "highly moral" or anything of that kind; these aren't unique to us.", but then you go and say "and our status as one of the only two animals that torture oth...

Re: How many people in this forum would support an Instrumentality for mankind?

^ Again, that's not an objective way of seeing life. That's a computer statistic, looking at the number of bad days vs good days in a person's life. We're not robots nor machines, we're human, and we all place different values on the impact of good and bad days, we don't use a statistic to determine...

Re: How many people in this forum would support an Instrumentality for mankind?

Epilogue, that's life. Of course the universe doesn't give two shits about us, that's just the way the universe is. We're a small part of a much bigger picture. But instead of dwelling on the negatives and the meaningless of our existence, how about we give ourselves meaning to our existence to make...

Re: How many people in this forum would support an Instrumentality for mankind?

Finally, what I'm saying should not be translated as telling rape victims to kill themselves. I'm telling everybody to kill themselves, because chances are, rape won't even be the worst bad thing to happen to each of us, or the last. Okay...wow. Just....wow. I've encountered my far share of nihilis...

Re: If Shinji commits suicide...

Maybe we should all agree that EVERYONE did a major fuck-up with each other, and hope in the next movie that they'll all actually calm the fuck down and actually TALK about what's going on instead of vague answers.

Re: If Shinji commits suicide...

I prefer the theory that Shinji attempted suicide at the beginning of the movie by drowning, because it not only is relevant to how much he wants to end the pain of himself after he killed Kaworu, but it also makes the "next scene" more poignant of how much he wants to end his own misery w...

Re: What would Evangelion be without Shinji?

Shinji is one of the primary reasons why we're all here, because it gave us a protagonist that required us to not only think, but also to look deep inside ourselves at our own introspective loathings.

Without Shinji, Evangelion wouldn't be the deconstruction anime that it is famous for today.

Re: If Shinji commits suicide...

^ So if you admit that the entire deck is stacked against Shinji, how is HE the failure when it's the world that's failing him? How's he supposed to know what to do if the world keeps offering him contradictory information and sets him up to fail? Just because Gendo does his job as a bastard WELL, d...

Re: If Shinji commits suicide...

Dude, if Shinji was just as hated in the fandom as you say he is, we wouldn't be bothered to defend him in anyway. We'd be just content to just through him to the wolves. And yet, how many of us here, VEHEMENTLY I might add, defend the poor kid? He has faults, yes, but that does not make him unredee...

Dude, don't let him get to you. He talks the talk, but it's just hot air. And there are plenty of Eva fics where there are Happy Endings. RE-TAKE is a primary example of a happy ending being earned. :) And while there are some deaths, each have a meaning to the rest of the story and don't leave you ...

Re: If Shinji commits suicide...

I just said that it's all symbolic, a metaphor. Hell, the entire series is a metaphor for the struggles of human interaction and isolation, as well as clinging to the past. The fact that Anno rose above his younger short-comings and became a better person, I have no doubt that Shinji will become one...

Re: If Shinji commits suicide...

^Dude, it's Stillborn. He does this all the time. And no, Shinji is not going to die. Anno is Shinji, at least from a narrative perspective. If Anno allows Shinji to commit suicide, it would be pretty much be saying that all the progress Anno has achieved as a person was amount to nothing, and that ...
