This is weirdly hypnotic.

Re: The game of Shogi: a view on characters and plot in Rebuild

I like this idea a lot! Thanks for sharing. It may not reveal some brand-new, groundbreaking information, but it does show that some of those things (9 coffins, 4 lances) are put there with purpose, if only metatextually. I mean they look cool too, but if their existence is reinforced with some actu...

Re: How Evangelion Gets Away With Being Terrible

There is no answer to the actual question in the video. Let's assume, for the sake of argument, his assessment of NTE is universal truth. Let's assume, it's objectively terrible. (Daily reminder, that objectivity doesn't exist) (He kind of alludes to fragments of the movies he found to be insufficie...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Koe no Katachi I didn't get that at all from either the film or the manga. How much experience do you have of deaf people in real life? Virtually none and I haven't read the manga. To clarify, I was being facetious with my remark of her being mentally retarded. I think the overall depiction of her ...

Re: Final Fantasy series

I have not played any game since FFXII and I was very happy with XV. The flaws are painfully visible the game is simply not finished - but what's there I enjoyed immensely. I'll wait until the last patch has been released before replaying it to form my final opinion.

For anybody who's interested, here's a lengthy interview with Kanno on how she approaches making music. I haven't read it in a while, but I remember it being pretty interesting.

Oh yeah, totally forgot about space Asuka. I was wrong, sorry. Can't remember seeing Kaworu beforehand, though he would be an exception from the Curse of Eva anyways, since he's some kine of Angel in NTE.

Re: NGE Blu-ray box set

^ Whoops. I meant a projector. It's called Beamer in German, lol. We also say Handy to mobile phone... It's weird. The projector makes a rather big picture, making inconsistencies very noticeable. The wiggle is there between cuts for sure, but in some Episodes the picture is wiggling throughout. (I ...

Re: How misunderstood is Asuka?

In Q , the third Rebuild film, the notion of "the Curse of Eva" in introduced, keeping her body as a teen while (presumably) her mind continues to mature (on top of similar precociousness). We have not (yet) been shown any other in-universe consequence of this to justify it, so at present...

Re: Cowboy Bebop

In other news, the Blu-Rays to Cowboy Bebop will finally be released in German! I'm really happy, as the German dub is also very good and I personally like the look more of the Blu-Ray box Funimation put out . I already own the whole series on DVD, which are housed in an even cooler looking Vinyl-es...

To me it's funny, that nobody juggled with the idea that all of her music that closely resembles already existing music, (call it inspired by, or plagiarizing... as a musician, I think the line is super fluid and the idea seems rather weird, because there's only so many sounds that sound good togeth...

Re: What are you watching right now? (tv series + see OP!)

I've always loved David Lynch's movies. He produced the most powerfully frightening and funny scenes I've ever witnessed. I had my problems with Twin Peaks. I've tried watching the show 3 years ago, and while there are amazing scenes in it, somewhere along the meandering second season I've completel...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

The only thing I remember of NHNT is that this show is so bleak, it left me with a queasy feeling. I was rather young, but looking back it pretty much is tragedy porn, isn't it? I don't know if I could take that show seriously today. Texhnolyze is a much more interesting depiction of the same feelin...

Re: What manga are you reading right now?

Dead Dead demons de dedede destruction by Inio Asano (currently 2 volumes read) His work is often wrought in ennui with characters who ooze such an extend of blasé in their attitudes, that it's draining every spark of hope out of me, if not enjoyed in careful doses. But they are always highly fasci...

Re: NGE Blu-ray box set

Sorry, for bumping this thread, but I felt like it was the best place to post this. So I've finally watched the Blu Rays on my Beamer, and I've noticed that some Episodes feature heavy left to right wiggling and distorted colors. Compared to my archives box which looks comparatively ely great on my ...

Re: [Music] Songs on repeat

I've recently discovered that the daughter of Will Smith is a Pop Star. Since then "Whip My Hair" is on repeat. Same goes for "Bon Appetit" by Katie Perry . I love her new Sound. I've recently listened to The Money Story by Death Grips again and again. It was very draining. But I...
