Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2015 to now

Are there any anime worth recommending right now? Mind you, I can't stand any kind of harem like show where a boring male protagonist/male viewer stand-in has a horde of overly character designed women with squeaky voices throw themselves at him during the course of the show. Not from the current s...

Re: Berserk

I'm a huge fan of the original anime. I don't read manga, so don't tell me to do it. I was really excited to finally have a continuation. And I like the story so far, but dear God the CGI animation is HORRIBLE. And then, the times they bless us with a few hand drawn frames, they look INCREDIBLE. Why...

Re: Nintendo NX

Xbone may not have tons of exclusives, but I got one basically for its backwards compatibility. I didn't have a PS3, but I had a pretty massive collection of Xbox 360 games. I can still play Witcher 3 on Xbone, plus lots of other great non-exclusive titles. That's enough for me. I don't really need ...

Re: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

In case anyone is interested, Funimation will be releasing a 10th Anniversary Blu-ray box set including Seasons 1 and 2, the chibi series, and The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki. The film isn't included, but the box set will have an open slot for an eventual Blu-ray release of that, as well. You can a...

Child One and Child Two, or Thing One and Thing Two (reading Dr. Seuss a lot lately), or Player One and Player Two? They all sound good to me.

Re: Persona 5

I guess so, but what I infer from the trailers this time there's a lot more spectacle and variation in those segments to better mask the routine.Persona is a dungeon crawler at its heart, but it's always very inventive in its setting and writing was above the standard of JRPGs. The only Persona gam...

This is the thing with being a long-time James Bond fan, you have to accept that continuity does not exist.

Re: The James Bond Thread

Why didn't they tease Spectre the whole way? The organization didn't really have any sense of gravity or character because it just shows up out of nowhere and Blofeld baffling claims to be behind everything and there's a bunch of stuff about him being Bond's adoptive brother or something? The evil ...

Re: Rumor: Microsoft developing slim XB1, and more powerful XB1

I am way, way behind on the new-gen console stuff. Two weeks before this announcement I got an Xbox One. So, of course this had to happen. It's OK, though, because it'll take me forever to get through the games, anyway. That's what having a kid will do to you, people. Your time for games/anime is dr...

Re: Nintendo NX

More than "basically". It's how they marketed it and everything: as Nintendo's return to the traditional controller and "U", the traditional gamer (as opposed to the casual audience, who incidentally made the Wii the best-selling Nintendo console ever). Really? I don't recall an...

Re: Currently playing 4: Guns of the Patriots

Last weekend I finally finished Borderlands 2, which was a decent enough game. A little overboard on some of the fights, but I generally liked it. Next, I plugged in The Witcher 3 to start that, only to have my Xbox tell me I needed to download a fucking 18gb update. So, I played Rise of the Tomb Ra...

I hope someday we get both cuts of Rogue One: the original director's cut and the theatrical cut, which should be tonally different. I realize this is a pipe dream that will never be fulfilled, but it would be really cool all the same.

I saw The Nice Guys. It was a fun time, but far from Shane Black's best film, written or directed.

Disturbing Rogue One news/rumor. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/scifi_movies/star_wars/disney-reportedly-unhappy-with-rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-a142162 Lots of movies go back to do reshoots. Sometimes they didn't get the right angle, or the performance was underwhelming, or they need to film a cou...
