I knew that it was highly controversial, and that my friend had told me "it was a mostly lighthearted, mecha action anime" (I hadn't, and still don't, watch much anime despite knowing both English and Japanese), so I just trusted him and watched all of it, forgetting that m...

It just says "ki...." which in Japanese is often used as a creaking sound effect, or maybe just a random sound effect. That's all the context I can give.

WiiU? Although I could care less about the name.... A new Smash Bros and a possible Zelda HD? Sign me up, although tentatively. And according to IGN, all of the WiiU's features work well together. At the very least, it's all a great deal more encouraging than what Microsoft and Sony have sho...

For me, I watched Evangelion for the first time about a month ago. I'm not really an anime guy, I've only seen a couple, and never even come close to finishing a series completely. Either way, one of my anime otaku-esque friends recommended that I watch Evangelion. Of course, he just told me...

danbooru, safebooru. Google them. They're image-hosting sites, of a sort.

Call me stereotypical, but Good, or Don't Be is probably my favorite. It's just so....uplifting for me personally. Despite the rage/confusion I felt when I heard this at the end of EoTV, the song itself is wonderful. Sin from Genesis from Rebuild, and the obligatory Komm Susser Tod inclusion...

Officer Nikoraef? That's not the correct way to write the Russian, I know, but that would be the straight romanization.

The officer part is just a simple translation, also. Sorry it's not that in-depth.

Yay for reviving 10-month old threads.

In Portal 2, GLaDOS says "You are not alone....(some technobabble) at 1.1 volts.

I thought that was interesting. Totally worth reviving a thread for.

I don't think it really ever shows each of the pilots' sync ratios explicitly. I think that they said that 100% is where the pilot and Eva have a 1:1 ratio of pain, control, senses, etc. Exceeding 100% results in a higher/more precise control of the Eva, although the threshold 400% mark can ...

Yes, but not to the point of emotional trauma. When I first was encouraged to watch it, I was so hooked that I watched I think the first 15 episodes in a day, then watched the rest plus EoE the next day. I remember that for a week, I was pretty disoriented, and couldn't really think about anythi...

Thanks, guys. Taking a lot of this stuff in.

I've seen some of Herzog's documentaries- Grizzly Man was definitely a really good one. Man of Wire looks interesting as well.

I'm trying to find which of these films I can find at my library/the Internet....

Any good documentaries?

Just wondering, because I have an upcoming project which, apparently, vaguely involves watching a documentary, and I will have some time on my hands, what with spring break and all. It can be about anything (originally I wanted to do something that maybe had to do with anime, or video games, but...

They are similar in that they are the eponymous 'Third Child', and that they are manipulated into becoming weapons of terror, so to speak. However, Ender's Game is more about Ender in his process to becoming the commander that will save humanity, than it is in the actual war, he is more ...

I think it's generally just which one you get used to first. I watched the subbed version, and I think it's drastically better than the dub. Granted, I am fluent in Japanese, so I can understand both the actual voices and the subs, so I am biased. But I have friends who prefer the dub by far...

Nier is surprisingly good. The graphics are shoddy, mediocre at beast, but the pacing, feel, soundtrack, story, and voice acting are great. It's one of those games that isn't a 9 or a 10, but has that one factor that keeps you coming back for more.

I had a dream where Gendo was the head of Team Rocket, and Ash was a unsociable little child who was forcefully recruited into Team Rocket a la Shinji with Eva 01, and was gradually trained/forced to work with Team Rocket (who's main goal was similarly Instrumentality). It's hard to ...
