I wasn't really a fan of Episode 4 of the TV series. Perhaps I'm missing something crucial, but I always thought it rather dull

We've got a ton of snow in the Midwestern United States. There's huge curls of it hanging off of my house, and the backyard looks like some kind of snowy Dune. Thank god for snowblowers or this would be miserable =P

I've always been a fan of Asuka's big fight scene in EoE, as well as Rei's smile after the fight with Ramiel. However, I think the most emotionally significant moment for me in Evangelion was when I first saw Unit-01 go berserker. The feelings of sheer frustration and rage those scenes s...

The way I always viewed the end was definitely reveling in its ambiguity, but I had my own (admittedly superficial) theory concerning Shinji's behavior. It's no secret that sometimes people get angry with the people they love, even outside of relationships as love/hate as Asuka and S...

You know, I don't usually go for fanfiction, as it's not really my thing when it comes to reading material but...could I get a link to that?

edit: Oh, just an idea, nvm then. Great idea though!

I'll admit, the first time I watched EoE Asuka's death bummed me out big time (she's my favorite character) but after it was over (and now that I've watched it a few times), it doesn't really get to me so much. She gets to kick some major ass, so after you realize...

Clark's Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic

Clark's Three Laws are similar to Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics in that they are essentially backbone tropes of science fiction writing.

Don't make shit more complicated than it needs to be, basically. Agreed. A major pitfall of mine when analyzing poetry in high school was looking at things too deeply (I sucked at analyzing poetry), and I suppose that applies to NGE as well. If you look too deep you begin making false c...

I don't think that qualifies as a "berserker" so to speak, just spontaneous motion on Yui's part to protect her son. Notice how Unit-01 doesn't move after it blocks the light? I don't think that it's possible for Yui to move the Eva about very much on her own. Any time ...

The first verse of "Incomplete" by Bad Religion makes me think of Shinji, though most of the song fits I suppose: Mother, Father Look at your little monster I'm a hero, I'm a zero I'm the butt of the worst joke in history... Also, the last verse of "Suicide Is Painless&quo...

Crosses = explodies. I remember reading some time ago about Anno (or someone involved with the show) stating that the judeo-christian symbolism that's prevalent in NGE (such as the cross-shaped explosions) is mostly just for show, similar to how the west adopted the Yin-Yang as ...

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing 2.0 and finally being able to answer all the questions my role-playing group has been asking me about the rebuild series, apparently they think I'm a more hardcore Evangelion nerd than I really am =P
Also, hooray for Asuka being in this one!

I find myself relating a lot to Asuka by way of the fact that I get extremely frustrated when I screw up/fail, and almost always blame myself and take it really hard. Thankfully it doesn't go beyond that though <.<;;
