Re: Stuff that you would like to see in 3+1

Well, Shinji already went for that, and missed... So I think it will be done very differently. I don't think it will be done via an Impact event, or at least not one involving Shinji. I think it will be a different sort of event that gives the world a chance going forward. One way of looking at thi...

Re: Stuff that you would like to see in 3+1

I will be astonished if Anno revisits the Instrumentality well for Final. He's already done it twice, and the theme of the ENT series is less the perils of miscommunication than it is the journey of Shinji Ikari. Would an Instrumentality sequence really help illustrate that at this point? I don't th...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

Which I will have you know is a complete mirror opposite of the way their personalities were in the comics and the TV shows. Stewart is supposed to be the ex-marine who's seen too much and is Jaded and bitter, while Jordan is the young punk kid who's still learning the ropes. Ah, no. Your assessmen...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

My biggest issue with Covenant thus far: The David reveal invalidates not only the rest of the Alien franchise, but Alien and Prometheus as well. If David created the xenomorphs how did they wind up in the Engineer mural seen in Prometheus? Moreover, if David killed off the Engineers before he creat...

Re: Evangelion Pic Thread 9: Pen-Pen's Playhouse [use spoilers]

^ even Asuka is looking at the script going "WTF Anno?". Nah, that's Rei. Asuka's just trying to ignore the fact that Mari's molesting her even when the cameras aren't rolling. I like the fact that Shinji and Kaworu are chatting like they haven't a care in the world while Gendo digs in to...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

I can't see how it fails to create the consequential actions of a trillion dollar expedition when everyone in the film save for two die and their mission was a complete disaster. The movie didn't fail at anything, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It fails to establish why these characters...

Relevant. https://youtu.be/h55YePGLYHQ?t=178 Also relevant. https://youtu.be/GbKa7q7y0TY?t=173 Nah. The point of the MoS complaints isn't that Supes never smiles, but rather the overall tone of the piece. It's dour , and that's not what Superman is supposed to be. And no, it's not up to Batman to m...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

160 people disappeared. Colonial Marines didn't believe the Xenomorph story. In a realistic scenario the possibilities of a viral infection is the number one probability. It was dumb to not use breathing gear in Aliens but everyone's okay with that because there is zero infection in the film. If ch...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

This logic does not compute for me. How is having a plot full of people and structures making mistakes inherently bad? Again, I fail to see the objectivity behind all this. No one ever said making mistakes was inherently bad. It's only bad when your plot requires that everyone make obvious mistakes...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

There's another theme of the movie: even the gods and the powers that be aren't perfect. David is disappointed by his creators, the same way Halloway and Shaw are disappointed by theirs. Those with power wield it because they can, and they create because they can. But being a creator doesn't make o...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

The capitalists in this franchise haven't exactly been shown to be competent either. Who says they're any better at their jobs than the scientists? Another huge part of this movie is using power simply because you can, and not because it's entirely understood. Weylin himself had a deadline consider...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

In that case, I did not find Millburn's actions to be out of character. Again, he may have been a biologist with a degree, but that doesn't guarantee common sense, especially in the field. It should have, given that he was selected for a high profile mission by people who have the resources to hire...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

This is where you and I disagree then. An idiot ball is a plot device like any other, sometimes used brilliantly, and other times just used. The usage of an idiot ball in of itself does not make something bad, and therefore cannot be used as an objective measurement. It is generally not possible fo...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

Are these things, such as the hammerpede scene, still objectively bad if I enjoyed them and didn't mind the idiot ball that needed to be carried to make it happened? If you're acknowledging that an idiot ball was needed to make them happen, then yes. The fact that it's objectively bad does not have...

Re: [Film] Prometheus + Sequels

Every minor flaw people bitch about in Prometheus has been debated to death yet people will still make ridiculous claims like "It's an objectively bad movie. A lot of the stuff people bitch about in Prometheus is objectively bad. You brought up the hammerpede, and it is perhaps the best exampl...

Re: Superhero Films & TV

"The show must go on" is one of the most horrible sentiments to ever invade human consciousness. Let the show stop. It's not going anywhere, and it doesn't have to happen now . People will watch it if it's good; there are no unknowns there, that's just how we are. So if a tragedy happens d...

As seen in this new poster, and what inspired it.

Look harder,, as that's a traditionally WW pose, too. Here, take your pick.
