It didn't just dump the sex scenes, either. It also rewrote and streamlined a lot of stuff to make the story work better overall. I think I'll have to go ahead and read that version too. The sex scenes seemed waaaay forced and out of place in the original like a lame excuse for extreme fans...

I can't believe some of the comments here... better than Anno's, seriously? It seems fans longed for a happy ending for so long that anything resembling Eva would do, I just didn't think it would cloud their judgment so much though.
