I'd just recommend researching formalistic film study (sounds a lot more important & complex than it actually is), or if you're still in a school/college environment or have easy access to something like a community college, enrolling in a Film 101 course. Understanding the mech...

The point is, what's the point of researching Eva if you don't go back and watch it in the anime, and say, ah so that's an example of the hedgehog's dilemma being reinforced with a visual metaphor.

@master-lloyd I have gone to the wiki many times. I want to somehow connect the Eva research with the actual watching of it. @EM I don't know whether this is just another instance of your sense of humor combined with you thinking what I said was drug induced or if you are being serious so I'...

Ignore the fanwanking and watch the show for yourself. :P This place is a deathtrap. no it's "THE ULTIMATE EVANGELION RESOURCE SITE!" Seriously though. Without this site I never would have developed a deeper understanding for the brilliance that is Evangelion. It seems like someone is...

I too, dropped Mushi-shi. I have picked it up again recently and am actually enjoying it a bit more. The apocalypse was definitely going to happen, but it was Kamui's death that allowed him to use his barrier to protect the entire world, thus saving it from apocalypse. It seemed rather brilliant...

I have to say, maybe having the message be applicable to every human being to ever feel depressed is a wee bit off from pretentious.

I've been playing mgs3 a lot lately. Beat it on normal twice and got all the cammo. Now i'm playing on extreme and it is hard as hell. Surprisingly i made it to the part where you sneak into the lab w/ the scientist cammo. The boss's English voice is annoying beyond words, she's the ...

The key animator is Iso Mitsuo. Coincidentally enough he did the key animation for Rah too.

Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water

I recently bought this anime and am waiting for it. I've heard it's like Anno's take on Miyazaki-esque anime. What did everyone else think about it? Analysis?

I am on mushi-shi episode 12, and could someone tell me the basic message of mushshi if it has a deep message?

Also finished gundam 0080 and 08th ms team. MS sucked and 0080 was pretty good.

I think there could be a subforum for every part of otakudom: Anime/manga (i know its already made), SF, audio and video, video games, J- drama's etc. or just which ever subforums would be needed the most, mainly the video game one.

Site for buy Japanese import anime DVD's?

Since I suspect our computer is being hacked, this would make any anime torrents i (hypothetically) download unsecure. This has caused me to try buying the DVDs more. The only problem is, many anime that I want a physical copy of are altered in the R1 release i.e. mobile suit gundm being eng...

How to Apply Evageek Knowledge to watching Eva

I can't help but feel that i have not watched Eva enough to visually take in how all anno's techniques are used/message is expressed. I keep watching other anime instead of Eva, hopefully not because i subconciously dont want to watch Eva again. Whenever I rewatched Eva in the past and even ...

Re: Why did SEELE want to initiate 3rd impact?

Why do you think they wanted to initite 3i? Was it because they each had some sort of insecurity? Did you even watch Evangelion? Yes, I know the obvious reason they spell out for you in the show but with Anno, the real answer is usually under the surface. I mean why did SEELE really want to start 3I?
