Re: Commentary: Episode 07

That would be a great candidate for a supplemental page. Well, it took longer than expected but it's finally here . Hope the DOS nerdiness won't scare away too many people. The FGC page style makes the page longer than I'd like, but we'll have to live with it. I'd love if a native English speaker c...

Re: Commentary: Episode 07

I mean, this comment seems to imply a somewhat different branding issue that's described here . "Yebichu" is the new status quo, is it not, and thusly the original issue with a real-life brand is now history. Is this the first time the newly re-christened Yebichu appears? If yes, I'll try...

065 : Here's Cut 328 from Episode 2 in all its Freudian glory. 201 : Compare (and contrast) with the bureaucrats in Shin Godzilla . One of which is supposedly the protagonist . 210 (first part): The Evangelion Encyclopedia seems to suggest that the "F" in "F-type equipment" stan...

Re: Commentary: Episode 07

Cut 284d: is a hex dump of something; lots of 00 and FF bytes, so probably a chunk out of a random executable. You're right. If we ignore columns 17-24 (which are an exact copy of columns 9-16) and convert the result back to binary we get something that can be disassembled cleanly as 16-bit x86 exe...

Re: Commentary: Episode 07

Wasn't that already done ? (Though I do agree that there should be a notice somewhere more conspicuous... but where?) Sorry, I meant the evageeks.org home page. It's linked as "News" from both the forum and the wiki headers. I'm not sure how many users actually visit it rather than going ...

Re: Commentary: Episode 07

Sure enough, your youtube link for cut 049 is dead. "Blocked for copyright violations". Weird, it works here at home but YouTube blocks it from my workplace. IP location weirdness strikes once more. Cut 147B: the green screen looks like it could have been taken from, or made in imitation ...

Re: Commentary: Episode 07

Well, that sure took more time than we had expected. As always, thanks to everyone who helped bring the Commentary Project back to life! I wrote most of these back in 2014 when we were working on the episode so I apologize in advance for any broken link or reference to outdated theories or discussio...

^ Thanks! Somehow I managed to miss it all this time. His comments on the age-old rumors about censorship, while surprising, were exactly what I was looking for.

Re: Did Evangelion really run out of budget?

The gas attacks occurred half way through the series, if I recall. Aum's cultists attacked the Tokyo Subway on the morning of March 20, 1995. The TV series started airing on October 4, 1995. We know that the basic structure of the series was already planned out by 1993 (see the Proposal ). A famous...

Re: Third Impact Has Arrived

It's been a while since I last logged into the forum but... that was a hell of a surprise, guys. Nice work! I never really expected to see EvaGeeks move beyond phpBB 2, but I'm glad to be proved wrong :) I've had to deal too many times with encoding mismatches between the old databases and the homem...

Except that they actually rescanned the film. The colour was matched to the Renewal version, we understand. Looks like the BD remaster follows Renewal pretty closely. Most (all?) of the Renewal-only changes are still there. The "Sex" / "I hate everyone" flash cards in #2...

Can anyone confirm for me if the stereo mix on the Renewal/Blu-ray Discs is the broadcast mix? I was listening to Episode 1 on the Broadcast DVD and there seems to be missing music and lines. Yes. I've just finished rewatching the different versions of Episode 01 and I'm basically 100% sure...

Just did a quick check - the audio on the BDs follows the same format as Renewal. The main track is the 5.1 mix from Renewal but the the secondary 2.0 track is still the audio from the Video & LD edition, not a straight 5.1->2.0 mixdown. You can check for yourself switching the two audio tracks ...

I've always been happy with my used purchases from 3rd-party Amazon Japan sellers so I'm glad it worked out for you as well. It's surprisingly simple and cost-effective compared to the alternatives! Yeah. I didn't know that Amazon Japan had a fully-functional English registration an...

Oh, that's the BD Box + Archives + a pair of cheap artbooks.
Anyway, the copy of KIBA-6 you suggested me has just arrived here! The disk case is pretty sweet, I must say. The disk itself works perfectly.

I guess the only thing I'll be missing are the scripts that they had on the previous DVDs. Then again they're also available in book form and that's better anyway. Damn. I was looking forward to some nice clean 1080p scripts to replace the ones from the DVDs. I know I have the storyboar...
