Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

I lived in a rural area for a time where every man-in-between-jobs-for-5-years-straight-buying-illegal-drugs had a similar attitude as Taseface. To me, these jokes are never not funny.

But also, Holy Shit! James Gunn working with Disney’s direct competition? Ouch.

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

There’s an indoor garden in the Wunder or in one of its surrounding ships, powered by artificial lights and climate control. (There has to be, how else would they feed a whole crew in prolonged winter weather?) Kaji tends to the watermelons. All of them. Misato wouldn’t have it any other way.

Re: First look at Unit 08 and Mari from the theatrical teaser for 3.0+1.0

Lemme paint you a picture of the next Eva movie. BLACK SCREEN fades up to reveal a GIRL DRESSED IN RED standing over the viewer. Close-Up of Shinji'S FACE as he lies on the RED GROUND. Shinji squints his eyes up at the GIRL. Shinji: Asuka? Asuka, the GIRL, looks down at Shinji. Asuka: Get up, br...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

I feel like the first one was more streamlined, so I think it was a better movie than Deadpool 2 all around. But, at the same time, if you're not into the one joke of the first Deadpool movie, then movie has very little in the way of something else to offer you, streamlined narrative or not. Deadpoo...

^ It's not dark if you simply realize that we're all here to see good illusionists. Hayao Miyazaki is one of my favorite illusionists, cranking out those Public Domain stories on film like he created them from scratch.

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

Originality is an illusion, and filmmakers are all illusionists. There are good illusionists and bad illusionists. Independent films are where the good illusionists are born, and Hollywood is where the successful illusionists die.

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

I mean, Hollywood in general is ludicrous. But that's because they're reacting to Disney's latest Cinematic Universe success, all while placing their eggs in one basket within terms of "tent-pole film productions." Disney isn't the biggest dog in the Hollywood fight, and they are currently...

Fixed that based on the overwhelming evidences supporting that statement for you.

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

As for Kennedy, as the representative of the studio and dealing with coordinating everything for the films, she should have realized given her extensive experience that one year per film was outrageous. Bob Iger may be the head of Disney, but she is within her rights as a division president to tell...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

I do have one question, and I would like a serious answer: Why the hell are people so up in arms about real and precieved problems with these movies as if it is a life or death matter? There are certainly matters in the real world that merit such passions. These are just movies. Within terms of Sta...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

Here’s a solid fact: Kathleen Kennedy is one of the most accomplished film producers of your childhood. Seriously, read up on her filmography, it’s amazingly profitable. I think Disney is extending her contract to keep an accomplished filmmaker on hand. I also think that most faults within the Disne...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

C. S. Lewis liked the sacrificial scene, but not so much the battle scene. Both Disney’s Narnia and Jackson’s Hobbit 3 suffer from trying to use battle scenes to compete with LotR, when both children’s books distanced themselves from their respective battle scenes and had then all relayed to the rea...

Disney might reboot Home Alone, that I could see. And they might actually provide a more substantial boost in helping James Cameron along with his Avatar movies. (Also, I just realized that they bought back The Chronicles of Narnia and Doctor Dolittle from Fox in this deal, that's hilarious!) I can'...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

I doubt that Disney will reboot X-Men straight into the MCU. More likely they’ll do it in ten years time as part of a great multiversal mash up that lets them recast seasoned characters as well as develop new ones. That's more like how Netflix would do it, which is a good idea, mind you. I just thi...

I hadn't thought of the Toho/Toei collaboration positively affecting international distribution. That does make sense and seems hopeful for a same-year US theatrical release.

Re: Evangelion 3.0+1.0: 2020

I feel like Funimation will want to get Shin Eva to theaters in a speed similar to their theatrical release of Your Name, so within a few months of the Japanese release. Now, whether or not they do can be a completely different issue. Eva Ha was the only Funimation release of Eva that wasn't marred ...
