Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

Here's the finished version of Sagisu's recording: https://youtu.be/a6gq6TDtBK8?t=3m25s (Spoiler: It's from his Xpressions album. Don't know why he's posting about it now but there you go.)

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

@SSD, I don’t recognize that tune from Kare Kano. (Love that soundtrack!) I’m less familiar with Bleach, so I can’t say. @electricbones, Holy God, Sagisu’s feed is a rollercoaster. I can’t keep up. He still might be using that for an album, though, like he did with his SS Xspressions CD. Either way...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

If 25 seconds in starts a familiar tune, and none of the Eva fans recognize it, then it might not be from Eva. Perhaps someone commenting on the video on Twitter recognizes it and responded with something akin to "OMG I know that tune! It's music from ______________! I can't wait!" I mean,...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

Whatever Sagisu is recording doesn't immediately sound like anything he's been slated to score over the past couple of years. (Unless Berzerk have music like this as a staple to its tone. I've never watched it, but I've only heard it's grim.) Unless there's a source Im missing. Maybe he's not scorin...

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

Does Sagisu record non-Eva scores in London? If so, is he currently commissioned on any other London-based project? A quick search on Google indicates that he’s not lined up to score anything after the new Berzerk show other than Shin Eva, so I’ll bet actual money that he’s off in the distance, cast...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

There's already fatigue, Solo flopping was more than just the quality of the previous film (or lack thereof) with the lack of quality with Solo, people are tired of it already. That's yet to be seen, really. Solo is, in reality, a prequel movie focused on a supporting character of Star Wars. Not a ...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

Well, inasmuch as Star Wars is popular, and Han Solo is also popular, I don’t think that really translates into equal popularity when you make a solo Solo movie for Star Wars. Making prequel films to supporting cast members should never have had as high a budget as Solo had, regardless of brand/supp...

Re: Fanservice in Evangelion: Good or Bad?

I think in the US, the FBI is more concerned with IRL child pornography than they are weird creeps drawing highly-fantastical illustrations of fictional under-aged characters. That’s something I can get behind, more or less, because it doesn’t trample anyone’s freedom of speech since they don’t go a...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread

I don’t want to see a Lord & Miller cut of Solo. They’re good, but weren’t a good fit for this movie in the first place. I don’t want to see the Howard cut of this movie. He’s just gonna run around butting band-aids on the entire production. I don’t want to see Ehrenreich play Solo. His best rol...

Re: Anyone ever see these? I can't find any information on them. They're unopened

Maybe it’s a copy specifically made for conventions or large anime gatherings? Things like that probably would have gained more attention from US anime distributors at around that time. (Manga Ent. released the films in 2001, i think.)

Re: Rebuild outside of Evageeks: Many reactions

I guess 2.x was pandering in some ways. Both NGE and NTE certainly give some gloriously over-the-top, killer fight scenes classic to the Mecha/Kaiju genres, whether it be in production level or style. I think that’s part of the reason Eva as a whole became so much more popular in mainstream Japan ov...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

On the Hollywood side of things, I think the main advertising aspect of JP was utilizing very expensive technology at the time to create the dinosaur special effects. Emmerich might have been the only one who could pull the finances needed to secure a non-Spielberg, non-JP dino-esque film with Godzi...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

I can’t deny that. To be fair, in a Hollywood landscape that curiously refrained from making a whole slough Jurassic Park rip-offs and simply resorted to sequels, Emmerich’s Godzilla film was the only one that dared to mimic specific scenes as much as it did without satire or parody.

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

^ That was me, in this thread. I mean, the monsters are basically the same. There's more of an iguana influence to the monster design, rather than a fat, heavy, upright, 50's-era dinosaur model influence to it. Both Zilla and Beast like to stay on the main roads and only smoosh cars and cause, with ...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

Zilla 1998's soundtrack aping Jurassic Park has less to do with melodic similarities and more to do with overall usage, which is further accentuated by the film's overall tone. For example, every Jurassic Park movie has to have its moment of peaceful grandeur with the dinosaurs before going on to th...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

- Phenomenal score. - Great monster vs military sequences. - CGI for the adult Godzilla holds up surprisingly well (the babies not so much) - Solid fun cast. Don't get the hate for the blonde reporter acting-wise. - Score is actively trying to cheaply ape John William's "Jurassic Park" sc...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!

^ I think it is, but only because watching a Godzilla film is a forgone conclusion for me. (I’ve even found enjoyable aspects of Godzilla’s Revenge.)

However, even I’ll admit that I almost fell asleep multiple times during Anime Godzilla. Second only to Zilla 1998 in how boring and bad it is.

I will only accept pictures of Anno that are taken by his dear wife. She captures all of his best sides every time, including the times Anno dressed as Kaiju.

Woooow, Toho doesn’t even seem to be trying to hide the fact that Animezilla is just padded filler, huh?
