In all seriousness, I believe Anno could've perhaps used elements from John the Baptist in the creation of Kaworu. Their are some very striking similarities.

I could consider a theory like this partially valid. Take into consideration Kaworu being beheaded by Shinji, parallel it with John The Baptist being beheaded as well. Also take into account Kaworu essentially "prophesizing" Shinji's important role in the events to come. Sound familiar...
