Re: Eva Love in Japan

You mean this kind of stuff? http://www.tesuji.org/tmp/image032.jpg I can't remember how many different ones they have, mainly the Eva cast, I think there are pictures of the all on the Evangelion website. Yep, that was it. When you walk into Animate, there's a big display of it before you ...

Eva Love in Japan

Hi, all! Just got back from 2 weeks in Japan. While I didn't see one bit of anime on tv (of course, everywhere I stayed did not have cable), there was plenty of Eva to be seen. Here's a few posters for Eva pachinko machines in Kyoto across the street from Kyoto Station: http://www.pr...

Taste of Tea

If this is a repeat of a past thread, my apologies, but I did a search and nothing came up. Has anyone seen Taste of Tea? The reason why I ask is that Hideaki Anno has a cameo as a anime director. Plus, it's a good movie.

Society. Japan had basically this problem on a smaller scale before WWII and the bomb. Explains why Japanese in the 20th century look exactly like the one from the 14th centuery. But this isn't about Japan. Basically, saying they're 'not advanced' is a cocky statement. So they don&#...

Got back from Katsucon at about 2:30 this morning. I didn't do anything. I hung out with people and watched as someone got progressively more intoxicated and ridiculous. And then we played with lightsabers. You forgot the Magical Vibrating Electric Toothbrush. :P For the past few cons, my buddi...

Am I the only person who hated King Kong ? You want an over-the-top Evangelion movie? Get Terry Gilliam. The Monty Python guy? Brazil happened over twenty years ago... Incidentally, "over-the-top" is precisely what I, in my give-a-shit days, was trying to avoid, though I'm not sure ex...

Yeah I read that a while back. It is a little concerning but instead of getting pissed at the bands, get pissed at the record label of those bands. They are the ones requesting this and not necessarily the bands themselves. I don't necessarily buy this, because if you look up Wind-Up Records, t...

Anyone watching Genshiken? Because I have questions...

If you are watching Genshiken, I need some help understanding a few things in Episode 5. It appears there are some cultural issues that a Westerner like me is missing. Towards the middle of the episode, Chairman Shodai tells Saki and Ohno something about Kitagawa that is sure to keep her from closin...
