...but an assertion is not the same as a fact. You're right, they're much better. Facts are so stale, they're like the nerd near the punch bowl at the school prom. Without assertions, we would still be in the dark ages. Of course, without facts we probably wouldn't have these wonder...

Appreciating the anime in full and desiring to deconstruct it are not mutually exclusive. Desiring? No. Doing? Well, it certainly doesn't help when it comes to the holistic approach. Gonna have to cast my vote with DatDude here--it's a fun brain exercise, but putting too much into it sends ...

This is not the "listless immortals" as in e.g. Tanith Lee's Death's Master , or other sour-grapes thanatic memes; but simple mathematics of finite state machines. Quantization implies that there are only a finite number of ways of arranging 100kg of stress-energy within a co-movi...

Any finite system (being) can only enter a finite number of states, so will eventually get into an endless series of repetition. Wouldn't each repetition be different from the last? The being would have the memory of the previous repetition, thus altering their own perception of the cur...

Which is more disrespectful? Putting the Mona Lisa in a glass case where people can only look at the painting from a distance, or spending hours trying to prove it's really Leonardo da Vinco dressed as a woman? There is a time and a place to look beyond, and then there's a time and a place ...

You rarely see her as anything but sunny when in her human form. We rarely see her in her human form at all; although, her "sunnyness" is not present in the DC meeting between her and Fuyutski. Anyway, I feel this whole villain arguement is nonsense. GAINAX clearly did not intend for her ...

I'm afraid I will reluctantly have to agree with Reichu here--a thing I find harder and harder to do. You can choose to ignore some of the most amazing qualities to this show if you want, but don't expect others to do the same.

Reichu wrote:Because in NGE, your soul stays in your body when you die. If you failed to pick up on this, watch EoE again. And maybe episode #23, too.

Human souls do this, but EoE and 23 say nothing on the souls of the Angels.

Never heard of this "look at your hand" reality check; I never had any problems telling if the dream was real or not, and it never posed a problem when trying to 'become' lucid during the dream.

The character Shinji in the GTO manga (I forget if it was there in the anime) has a Rei poster and an Asuka poster in his room. I find that amusing, and oddly creepy.

I realized that as I was typing, but I was too lazy to come up with a better way of saying it. I figured you would realize I wasn't that stupid.

I've read nearly all the arguments supporting your claim of Misato's motives, but I remain unconvinced. However, I suppose it would be beneficial for Aubrey to hear what you have to say.l

Don't listen to her, and stay away from those threads. You just keep on believing what is right.

How exactly did Jackson ruin Denethor? Personally, I felt he portrayed him as perfectly as possible. In both the book and the movie Denethor is a proud, arrogant, angry king who has lost all hope, (that scene where Denethor feasted as Faramir fought for his life was beautiful) . And yes, som...
