...Word to the wise: when you see something onscreen in Evangelion, as a general rule, your 'default' assumption should be that it is, in fact, happening. This applies even to scenes taking place within Instrumentality; for while such scenes are not depicting physical reality, that does not...

What's so strange about it? Gendou apparently needed Adam's soul as well as his body, so when he got ahold of Kaworu's head, he just did a little soul body-switcheroo. With both of the needed ingredients in his palm, he fondled Rei and lost everything as a result. Adam absorbed into Rei...

I'll need to watch EoE again to see how Shinji refers to Rei and himself, but it's clear by "Rei's" speech that Instrumentality had been a success. Shinji, being in the driver's seat, decided he didn't like that outcome. exactly. the process worked (humanity was me...

He may have pulled the plug on the whole damning Humanity aspect of it, but the process was a success. ... Erm ... but I'm sure the "damning Humanity" concept is up for debate around these parts as well — Reichu? http://evageeks.org/ANF-Archive/images/naughty.gif I guess technically i...

Since you asked... It was actually just a one stupid thought that led to another: There was this discussion about what really happened during the Second Impact, and I started to wonder how in the name of Jebus they got Adam back from Antarctica afterwards. Think about it, he was shrinked in...

Y'know, we could all just got the "Stuffman Route" (which, incidentally, drives poor Reichu nuts), and call every last one of 'em an "it" and be done with it... I'm with this guy. either that, or they're of an intermediate sex. Originally posted on: 09-Se...

Actually, doesn't blood pour out of Asuka's eye in the entry plug after one of Eva-02's eyes is skewered by the spear right before the thing shuts down? I always took that as proof that actual injuries to the pilot could correspond to those taken by the Eva under certain circumstances.....

214: This was the point, for me at least, when I realized Evangelion wasn't your average giant robot show. The BGM they chose for this scene perfectly conveys Shinji's terror and Sachiel's viciousness.

I suppose the segmented body "armor" resembles an insect's exoskeleton, but I think it would be kinda hard for segmented body armor not to... Aside from that, I can't think of anything terribly insect-like about the Evas. When you strip them down, the Evas are more human than anyt...

I always thought the Evas looked kind of like a cross between a humanoid and an insect, especially the mass production Evas. maybe Anno was a Papa Roach fan ("between angels and insects..." or whatever)? http://evageeks.org/forum/images/archive_fgc/-tongue.gif Originally posted on:...

actually, that was gonna be my next guess. perhaps the horn thing on unit 01 is something of a third eye?

anyway, sorry for posting an old rumor and stuff.

I wholeheartedly agree with HeWhoPostsStuff. The superficial qualities of the Evas are purely symbolic. I'm sure a lot of you already know this (and I apologize if it's been said on this thread already; I'm too lazy to go back and look), but the Evas are modeled after the four ba...

On the other hand, in ep. 16 they show Shinji holding up something that looks very much like a red soul dot, while Yui's voice asks, "Is that enough?". As Shinji's life support has reached it's end at this point, I have always felt that this represents Yui giving Shinji enough...

Heh, I know, I wasn't trying to discredit your post or anything like that, sorry if it sounded like I was. Careful though...as Reichu can attest, once my ideas start making sense, it'd be a wise course of action to head for the hills. I may be nitpicking here, but there was a vague referenc...

Also, Gendou (and Yui, as well) was absent from the group picture that appeared in #26' when Shinji said, "Still... I want to meet them again, because I believe my feelings at that time were real." (But Rei IS there. HMMMMM.) yeah, Rei is there...barely. who's to s...

As for the "Red Earth" thing, there's a common saying that refers to people as "men of clay" or "jars of clay" or the like: in the Bible, IIRC, Adam was said to have been made from "dust," but I don't remember "clay" (which, again IIRC, ...
