Re: Netflix Release General Discussion

I have no issue with "It means 'I like you'", since suki was never a word used for unambiguous declarations of love -- it's similar to saying you "like" someone in English, which depending on context means you could just be fond of them or you could "LIKE like" them. T...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion

I felt, to its credit, it didn't make me want to run away screaming until episode 21, at which point the endless barrage of bad "Seele" and "Fuyutsuki" mispronunciations tested my patience to the breaking point. That's far as we got. Interesting. I never thought that the pronunc...

Re: Netflix Release General Discussion

So I come back after a couple of years and this is what happens... Haven't seen more than a couple of clips of dialog for the new dub, although I'm not impressed and I seriously question Netflix's reasoning behind doing a new dub rather than acquiring the old one. It's not the changes in the dialog ...

Re: Evangelion 3.0+1.0: 2020

I turn up at random for the first time in - months? years? and this is what I discover. Interesting. Although it means that 3.0 + 1.0 is coming a full 13 years after 1.0 released. That's one heck of a schedule slip. Someone who was born in 1995 would be 24/25 by the time this thing came out in 2020....

Re: Official Happy Birthday Thread

A very belated thank you to Child of Lilith, Justacrazyguy and BobBQ for the birthday wishes. My own very belated birthday wishes to the Comrade Commissar, because we're just a few days apart in age. Happy birthday to the kuma, wherever he may be. http://i.imgur.com/wfkuW7e.jpg Classic, patsan! Clas...

Re: NemZ Has Passed Away

I heard about this courtesy of an email from Paul Hodges, which is why I'm so late to the thread. I don't have much to say, because I'm as shocked and saddened as everyone else. NemZ was less than a decade older than me and should have had decades of life ahead of him. To pass away from a "sudd...

I'm stepping down as an administrator. I am tired and exhausted, I have far more to do in real life, and my obligations here have kept me around for longer than they should. I have plenty to be angry about - but I also have a proper life to lead. EGF has been an internet home and a support for m...

* Extended discussion can be split into its own topic if it's going anywhere

Extended discussion on politics has indeed been split into independent threads several times in the past.

Sorry for the confusion and delays, guys, but there seems to be some kind of software bug that's messing things up for the new moderator permissions. EDIT: BobBQ is now a mod for the OT subforum. We'll make a full announcement about who's going to moderate what for the time being after w...

I don't think that's a major problem - it's far more likely that a forum member wanting to PM one of the staff would choose to contact an active staff member about an ongoing issue than one who hasn't posted in several months. If any such issue regarding urgent and unanswered PMs ari...

That's because you have a custom rank, and the boxes for those have to be set manually. I'll update that to the appropriate number - in this case, 4 boxes.

I'm thinking of the book Rei was reading in 1.0, which suddenly makes a lot more sense if all the pilots are Eldritch Abominations. The fairy tale of the Happy Prince ends with both the Prince and the swallow being taken up to heaven, which probably suggests some kind of sacrifice on the part of...

That's enough passive-aggressive behavior and personal attacks. Another instance of poor behavior from you will merit a ban.
