YuYuYu S2 episode 4 -- in which they make up for the general lack of yuri teasing in the first half of the series, including confirmation of the fan speculation that Tougou is to Yuuna as Tomoyo to Sakura ("You're gonna get taped"). Also to thicken the plot, some of what happened in S1 ep...

Here's a bit of sanity on the USAnian net neutrality issue -- https://spectator.org/everybody-is-wrong-about-net-neutrality/ Truly the problem in the States is a lack of market forces in the consumer space for all telecommunications, with effective regional monopolies, usually based on the last-mile...

YuYuYu S2 episode 3 -- in which Yuuna actually remembers the Hero Club tenets, and then proceeds to ruin everyone's Christmas. I should have suspected that Truck-kun was actually a Vertex all along. Interesting in that this was really the first time in any of the YuYuYu part of the franchise that w...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

It's surprising what a difference a decade can make when revisiting older shows. Continuing with the Haruhi experiment, I found that I had to skip a chunk of episode 3 (had this been a 2016 series, being watched for the first time, it would have landed with an audible "splat!" when I dropp...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Having taken up Amazon Prime on the 30 day free trial for my Christmas shopping, I've also been watching YuYuYu S2 . Given the short (six episodes) run, the plot is having to develop at break-neck pace. Alas the Amazon subs are "electronic brain pancake crystal elderly"-tier, to the extent...

Re: 2017 Positivity Thread (good things you found, good things that happened, etc.)

The best thing that happened this year has been that I've been paid handsomely by my employers of almost 20 years to go away and not darken their doors henceforth, thus bringing forwards my retirement plans. Meaning, I don't have to struggle out of bed in the pitch dark this coming winter to commute...

@Mr. Tines circa Aug ‘16 : 4/5 Head-in-a-box gets the minus 1 for me. I was sure that it would have been YuYuYu that you marked down remembering your comments about the last episode. Or have you mellowed on that since? I don’t think I’ve heard you gush over the Count, Mononoke or Dennou Coil before...

Re: ITT: What are you working on right now?

One of the things I had planned to do in my retirement was move my home web server from the ancient PC it's been running on for the last 13 years (and which I'd bought as a second-hand ex-business machine, so it was probably getting to be old enough to vote) onto something like a Raspberry Pi. Only ...

By the way- am I not supposed to hear them clearly say “Sleigh Begg ar ”? Sounded more like ベッグ to me. Trouble is, if it is actually some Gaelic phrase, and not a coinage for the series, guessing the actual spelling will be a fun game (the more complicated converse of finding out that Lioslath of t...

The Boondocks, very Japanese It may be drawn by the same Korean sub-contractors, but as the saying goes, anime ja nai! Boondocks really doesn't count as anime, even at a stretch. Having Korean animation workers is not the key ingredient. black Tried a bunch more first episodes of this season's new ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Seems like, I'm still too burned out . Hopefully this will change. I know that feeling. Not helped by the fact that none of the 4 second seasons I might have watched are on Crunchy UK, the only fall series I've tried has been TWOCAR (admittedly that's one more series than spring and summer combined...
