From the vaults

After World Order's 2012 was linked in the music thread , it occurred to me to wonder whether there was a vocaloid rendition of any of their material. Well, I found one video, but not done the way I thought it would be... Eventually (a year or so later) a Vocaloid cover was indeed done , to complem...

The two come together at one point http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/53972/5ce0f2539712256.jpg Otherwise the bands are too wide to represent absorption spectra, and too irregular in size to be any sort of simple bar code -- they're not even like the possible signal in the binary soup here http://i74...

Re: Not Liking Eva and its Emotional Connection

From Day One, I was aware that my experience of the series was an intensely personal one, and that others, perhaps more well adjusted than I, would find it mere entertainment. Such folk I could dismiss because they just didn't "get it". Also, in the immediate aftermath, as a general anime ...

We now have a brand new, leak-free garage roof. And most importantly, we no longer have the old corrugated asbestos one that had been there for about 55 years. The roof had developed a sag over the years, so that a puddle would form, and drip through, to the extent that a washing-up bowl placed unde...

There's a region free BD collection with English subs covering Anno's live action movies.

And because I am conscious of my subjectivity. I ask, fans of Evangelion, who probably had a better knowledge of the background than me, your opinion. You have come to a place with a long history of supporting AsuShin, so bear that in mind as you read the responses. The "official" support...

The books (or at least the first three, the ones that I've read) aren't bad space opera, even if there is one bit near the climax where conservation of angular momentum gets taken out behind the barn. It sounds like the adaptation is being a credible one.

> Episode 03: The Phone That Doesn't Ring / A Transfer As noted above, the awkward gear-shift from the introduction. The one-time-only accumulation of fan-girls for the super-robot pilot, something that went nowhere fast, being one of those awkwardnesses. Going straight to episode 4's "had enou...

Re: Anyone else feel dislike towards EoE nowadays?

After watching it twice on consecutive days, immediately after completing the series, I've never found the inclination to rewatch it since, even though I now have the BD release should the eventuality ever arise. Part of that is that those first viewings were absolutely brutal, and I don't expect th...

Re: [Poll] What episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion do you like and dislike?

While Dance etc etc is down there, actually it was episode 3 that I finally voted as worst -- it's an awkward transition from the double episode introduction into the longer story. At the top, episode 11, where there's a sense that things are coming together, even if it is only briefly so, in the end.

Sohryu Asuka Langley, of course. She is the one who comes closest to being the innocent victim even in the original series alone, without having a movie that sets out to kerb-stomp her.

Sufficient of the SEELE/GEHIRN/NERV activity was public enough for Yui's fate to trigger a public scandal -- remember the newspaper articles shown in one or other of the flashback sequences (episode 16?).

Re: Evangelion in the New Year

The last couple of months have been quite hectic -- I'd gotten up to episode 16 in the first few days of the year, and then suddenly work on all sorts of stupid timescales. So it wasn't until last night I broke my total anime drought and watched episode 17. Now, following some of the analysis done i...

I finally sorted out my home workstation. No longer the chair I rescued from an office move 20 years ago, and no longer just the one screen, on a desk that leaves it just too low to be comfortable.
