Re: I Think I Hate Isekai (Fantasy World) Anime

Related trend-spotting (from June 2015) bubbling under will be adaptations of titles like " I stepped in front of a truck and reincarnated as a slime-girl in a generic JRPG world " (not an actual LN title -- yet -- just a synopsis of the latest sort of niche stuff that has surfaced on /a/ ...

Re: I Think I Hate Isekai (Fantasy World) Anime

There's no "turning evil" involved. Just like Yoshikage Kira in Diamond is not Crash, Tanya Degurechaff is simply seeking a quiet life -- only without the hand fetishism on the side.

Re: I Think I Hate Isekai (Fantasy World) Anime

I already filter on teenage male MCs from contemporary Japan, which has ruled out the vast bulk of the fad from the get-go.

Have you tried Youjo Senki (aka The Saga of Tanya the Evil)? It's the only isekai that I even felt worth sampling, and it turned out to be rather amusing.

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Well, there's always Gamera. Gamera is a Kadokawa property not a Toho one. Because if it wasn't it makes no sense that people wouldn't understand how to beat/defuse a situation right out of the movies they've seen. Early on-- Young guy: "It's some sort of gigantic creature." Older politic...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Shin Godzilla Finally got to see this as they are doing special showings in the UK cinema's Same here -- caught the one showing at the Arts Picturehouse last night -- scheduled for the biggest screen, it was at about 25% capacity. The version we saw was distributed by Madman. I did notice at one po...

Re: FML general thread [8]

It sounds like your work is pretty soul destroying -- using up your energy without exciting any passion. I would also guess that your diet is pretty sketchy, because catering for one when you're knocking on empty like that is just a chore. And generally what you say indicates you don't really do muc...

Re: Is the destination of this forum becoming a '' file drawer ''?

On that note, is there a way to expand this website/forum to have a more international and diversity-based grouping? I mean really, I think that learning about Evangelion from people in Japan who are just like us would be awesome!!! :D With India, yes even Germany, and Canada, I think we could real...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Summer, so not much in the way of anime getting watched. I did however get around to the third Washio Sumi movie. It's a competent adaptation, given that they have to fit almost 1/2 the story into 1/3 of the run-time (allowing for some of it pulled forwards into the previous one), with only one sign...

Well, today is the 20th Anniversary of the release of End of Evangelion, but we're still arguing about it.

The Chinese, whose fansub scene is still somewhere in the 2005-ish era, with the expectation that their users will only have toasters for playback. The first subs for the WaSuYu1 movie this spring were Chinese hardsubs (the group involved was gracious enough to take the English .ass and release a se...

My head-canon is that she is essentially asleep/dreaming most of the time, only truly waking when it's important (like taking over the Third Impact Divide-by-Zero Ceremony). There's not really much call to be actively conscious while preparing to be simply evidence long after the Sun has gone out.

It's Shinji who's jealous -- remember that bit in episode 5 when he watches them interact?

Re: What Evangelion characters do you ship?

My reputation is as an anti-shipper. But I think that Shinji/Megane-chan is probably the best for something that doesn't end in violence -- unlike my other, more favoured pairing.
