@Mr. Tines circa Aug ‘16 : 4/5 Head-in-a-box gets the minus 1 for me. I was sure that it would have been YuYuYu that you marked down remembering your comments about the last episode. Or have you mellowed on that since? I don’t think I’ve heard you gush over the Count, Mononoke or Dennou Coil before...

Re: ITT: What are you working on right now?

One of the things I had planned to do in my retirement was move my home web server from the ancient PC it's been running on for the last 13 years (and which I'd bought as a second-hand ex-business machine, so it was probably getting to be old enough to vote) onto something like a Raspberry Pi. Only ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

By the way- am I not supposed to hear them clearly say “Sleigh Begg ar ”? Sounded more like ベッグ to me. Trouble is, if it is actually some Gaelic phrase, and not a coinage for the series, guessing the actual spelling will be a fun game (the more complicated converse of finding out that Lioslath of t...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

The Boondocks, very Japanese It may be drawn by the same Korean sub-contractors, but as the saying goes, anime ja nai! Boondocks really doesn't count as anime, even at a stretch. Having Korean animation workers is not the key ingredient. black Tried a bunch more first episodes of this season's new ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Seems like, I'm still too burned out . Hopefully this will change. I know that feeling. Not helped by the fact that none of the 4 second seasons I might have watched are on Crunchy UK, the only fall series I've tried has been TWOCAR (admittedly that's one more series than spring and summer combined...

Re: What is the significance of characters strangling each other?

The kitchen scene may have a different meaning for 'killing' and 'death' than what we're used to. Both these characters are souls in this scene, and you don't kill a soul by having it lose too much oxygen or something technical like that. What happened at that point in the real-world scene of which...

You take your gf to see them, and she holds onto you for reassurance. That is traditionally why.

It's measuring a series against the question "Who are these people, and why should I care?" I used the phrase a few times and now it's got my name on it.

No, it's the DC episodes, especially 22', which did the retrospective changes to the continuity. The magic word for EoE is "concurrency".

Holy necroposts, Batman! In the 8 year hiatus, besides the obvious goggles-on suspects like mahou shoujo , drama or CGDCT series, or odd bits like those episodes of Miniskirt Pirates , Gundam IBO or Shin Sekai Yori the only titles that come to mind with sufficient reputation to add are Sakura Trick ...
