Re: How many people in this forum would support an Instrumentality for mankind?
It depends... is there wifi in Instrumentality ? More seriously, no. I believe individuality is a very important thing, and merging my mind with other people's doesn't sound very appalling. The only situation where I could accept Instrumentality would be if Earth was screwed beyond repair and all l...

Re: First half or Second half of EoE: Which was better in your opinion?
First half obviously being the beginning all the way to the end of the MP Eva vs Asuka, with the second half going from Pre-instrumentality to the final scene of thr movie. For me, while both were absolutely stellar, i lean a tiny bit closer to the second half due to third impact + Komm susser tod ...

Re: Favourite piece from the Eva OSTs?
Even though I love the songs on Evangelion, to this day aside from the OP and ED titles I can barely identify a piece of Eva score. I wanted to find the song that goes with the Japanese version of the "Next Time on Evangelion" shorts at the end of each episode and if I am saying it incorr...

Re: Who else...
Kinda hilarious you'd post this now given I just made this thread. #shamelessselfpromotion All in all I like the Magitech approach Evangelion took with the stuff, even preferring it over the character psychology in some ways. Rebuild seems to lean more heavily on mysticism though. Too bad the Rebui...

Re: How would a Plane/Robot/Ship realistically move in space?
Assuming a "black body" (it's a technical term, thinking of a deep matt black will do), then the amount of radiation is determined by the (unobstructed) area and the temperature of the surface. The area could be increased by extending some kind of wings through which liquid is pumped to c...

Re: How would a Plane/Robot/Ship realistically move in space?
Moving isn't a problem of course; controlling that movement by altering speed and direction is the issue. On earth we do this by transferring momentum between ourselves (or our transport device) and the earth itself or some substantial adjunct of it (water, air even) - these are so much more massiv...

Re: How would a Plane/Robot/Ship realistically move in space?
Watch a series called Babylon 5 as it shows how fight in space could happen and unlike ST its based more on realism, like ship can move up side down and weave. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWl1ZteUS8U&ab_channel=MartinW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAsk3ay3e98&ab_channel=StarTrekMarco...

Re: Favorite crazy Evangelion theories
At first I thought it was literally its title and was trying to piece the story together with biblical consistency. I'd like to see someone try winding everything together using all the symbolism and see what they could make of it.

What did you expect going into the show?
Who else expected Evangelion to be something dealing with gnosticism and theology? I could say that the idea of "Biblical Interpretation of Mechs" attracted me and the hope of Ascended Esoteric Knowledge?

How would a Plane/Robot/Ship realistically move in space?
I heard Planes in space, if given the technology, wouldn't be able to bank. However, I am having trouble visualizing how a plane, or any sort of big machine, would move out in space. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Cantonese Eva OP
I'd just like to share the Lyrics to the Cantonese Eva OP right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DePZFPCWxmo From Commenter: 1qszsqaw221 "讓聖經裡的迷途天使又傳道 在這伊甸園你我又再碰到 使徒們,到世間浮沉 歷史的真相有太多的神 無論要你落淚 或要她的鮮血 都不可見到神靈步近 阿門,我快將沉淪 被貶的天使向世間走近 尋覓到我慾望 或有一點悲憤傷 心怨恨從未發問 再抱憾再厭倦一生也未如願 我也是經過路人 你背後有對翼光圈裡 又會否用真心拯救...

Re: What is "Tabris"?
I'm by no measure English native speaker, but haven't you just mistook genii for genies ? Singular from genii is genius ; it was definitely Roman concept, not Arabic, and similar to Christian concept of guardian angel. Also, be very careful with Tabriz, as on the other side of Zagros Mountains ther...

Re: Who else is de-sensitized?
Well, I stick with my opinion that the kids here are putting to much thought into it. There are to many aspects to look at a tv show or movie to get a singular meaning out of it. The only thing from all the changes between each and every installment, TV show or movie alike, I could account to Anno ...

Re: What is "Tabris"?
Berserkelion mentioned The Nuctemeron , the Greek occult text where the name "Tabris" comes from. This blog post has what looks like an English translation of the relevant part (if not the entirety of the book's text). On the subject of how "Tabris" was etymologically derived, y...

Quite interesting, but I honestly don't know. Wikipedia and Google Books doesn't have a lot of information regarding Nuctemeron or NGE Kabballistic Angels, sigh. Do you have some source for your interesting statements? Also: do you know the correct Arabic for Tabris? The name of the "homonimou...

Re: What You Did NOT Like About Evangelion
I heard about it on the 4tune 500 company so you could guess what I expected it to be. Also I thought the imagery meant something and it was legitimately going to be related to the imagery, especially with the name. I expected it to be a sort of Evangelical Religious show that seriously discussed Gn...
