Though I don't know if that's the absolute priority in the show, how believable it is.
I think a real world 14 year old , seeing those monsters would star vomiting from shock and pass out. When I first so it as a ..15 year old I definitely thought the 14 year old pilot thing is a stretch.

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
I think it's important to note that a story is not necessarily only about a character's phycology. In Arthur C. Clarke's works (my favourite writer) the characters are usually just tools to explore the world. You can see that even in the movie he and Kubrick made, 2001: space odyssey. I studied astr...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
But "improve" implies that the same story is being told. It turns out that it isn't, though I agree that's not really clear until the second film - at which point it becomes obvious. Question is, how different the conclusion will be. We already had two different ways to show a similar hap...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
@Reichu: One of the things I find most dubious about the sequel theory is exactly this. NGE Shinji doesn't have everything 100% figured out, but he finally came to understand the lesson that would allow him a path to happiness and to part ways with Yui for good. Movie Shinji still doesn't hasn't fi...

Re: I feel like Shinji will withdraw from everyone in 1.0+3.0
Why would he do that, the ultimate running away? Do you seriously imagine for a moment that the conclusion of Anno's quest over the past decades would be to show suicide as the answer? That he would display such an extraordinary level of irresponsibility? No, in all seriousness, ever since the firs...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
One possibility is to have the last movie follow Shinji, Asuka and Rei, not showing what Nerv and Wille is up to, but them trying to travel through the ruins, while things are happening around them without we, the viewers knowing what exactly Ghendo is doing. JUst Shinji finding himself, and have a ...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
The first film might seem like that, but if you are paying attention, and know NGE well enough, you will realise that there are significant differences - and these differences enable a difference story to be told later on. The second film has so much that is nothing like NGE that I sometimes wonder...

Re: I feel like Shinji will withdraw from everyone in 1.0+3.0
At this point I have no idea what will happen. Both the Series and EoE ended basically the same way- Shinji said no to the instrumentality project, and chose the world with people of individuals, and the pain with it.So ....EoE was a happy ending. So will we get the same ending? Or a darker more pes...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
Well, while I definitely agree with the "franchise" problem nowadays, with everyone trying to make franchises from random shows and movies ,just because they saw the success of the Marvel CInematic Universe, Evangelion is different. These are not different shows artificially connected, lik...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
There were those interviews where Anno talked about how the studio pressured him to add Mari, as they wanted to give a reason for people to watch these new movies, if they are just a recut of the original , that's not interesting enough. They wanted new characters and scenes. And he was talking abou...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
Thing is, it all depends on the last movie.
it can sway my opinion either way.

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
About Kaworu, it was mushy for me even in the original, how Seele got him and could manipulate him. And Angel in human form. It was an interesting idea. Did he have Adam's soul in the series? I forgot it. The rebuild version getting out from a numbered coffin on the moon, was that symbolic only or d...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
What blows my mind is that I was watching the new Voltron cartoon, and I was disappointed as the last season ended up being more story focused and not character focused. On Rebuild of eva, I expected more lore and sci fi, as that was the main thing I loved about it. (I'm more of an Arthur C. Clarke ...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
This is why I'm usually not a fan of reboots. It's always hard-nearly impossible not to think about the original. And with the "cyclic" theory, I don't think I'll fully look at it as a completely separate thing until the last movie comes out and we learn if there's a connection or not. How...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
I'm just surprised why were so many character focused scenes cut from the first movie. I took it as a clear indication this iteration of Evangelion will focus more on the world- as the said they wanted to make it more understandable this time- so it took me some time to accept that the deep characte...

Re: Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
Yes, I've been following the forum for many years now. But some theories ,threads are not active since the last movie, so I was just curious what's the current view and expectation. I just can't decide if the third movie has a really thought out , deep new lore, or Anno just made up a lot of mushy d...

Current view of the Rebuild series and last movie expectations
So, as we finally getting closer to the last movie(which I expected a short decade earlier but eh) After seeing the 3 rebuild movies, what are your expectations for the last one? It's odd to see how the first rebuild movie's animation is a bit different style, as it was made more than 10 years ago. ...

Re: Evangelion's site and Facebook/Twitter covers updated with new images - First teases of Shin Eva
This is so exciting. Finally, we can speculate about the little hints and cryptic pictures Anno releases. I really hope the last movie won't be a disappointment, I want a mind fuck. A good old Anno like end of eva type thing.
