Re: [Film] James Cameron's Avatar

Oh, what a mixed-feelings movie. Even to this day I can't tell whether this movie is average, mediocre or plainly bad. The thing is, James Cameron is a genius... by tricking you into thinking what you're watching is any good. He did the same with Titanic. Here it's the same, but with even better dis...

Re: C.T.1290 versus Asuka. Examining the good and bad.

^Hmmm. I've never really expected that Asuka would actually feel guilty (ashamed even) for the way she treated others. Not for the way she treated others, but for the way she sees herself. In the moment she says that she is very vulnerable, and for a moment she is not in a -let's say- defensive pos...

Re: C.T.1290 versus Asuka. Examining the good and bad.

What do you mean by that her inner self isn't there. We must remember that her brave(yet cocky) personality is her front, or at least some extension of her personality. So you mean to say that her arrogant and proud attitude is all that is there, so she therefore can't be humbled? Even if you ignor...

Re: C.T.1290 versus Asuka. Examining the good and bad.

I think you people who try to guess if Asuka is "bad" or "good" are treading water. Real people is not good or bad. People does shitty things, and people usually achieve great things. First of all, you are morally judging or in general? I mean, you are discussing the fact that sh...

Re: Did Evangelion really run out of budget?

Thanks gwen for your thread. I see for the stuff you guys send that production scheduling was the problem number 1. Problem number 2 seems to be money, at least for me. I mean, animators in NGE were hardly getting paid and the truth is behind every production problem there is a money problem involve...

Re: Revolutionary Girl Utena

That's how I perceived the first half. First-watch problems. You don't know what to expect and what the show is going for. And Utena is especially obtuse. I 've only watched 8 episodes, so I obviously can't judge the series. I actually know that the show is going for something deep, philosophical, ...

Re: Netflix's Death Note Live Action Adaptation

This movie is the most unintentionally hilarious movie I've seen in a while. Light killing people to get laid with Misa? CHECKED. Ryuk being a crazy psychopath (because is a "monster" and according to the Hollywood lore, monster = gore)? CHECKED. Light being a total dickhead until the last...

Re: Hayao Miyazaki updates enemies list

No offense but Miyazaki is pretty narrow-minded. Everything has to be his own way, or it sucks. If someone has a different way to proceed, he doesn't know anything about life, pain, art, etcetera. It's the typical snob pretentious dipshit argument. I mean, the guy has enough merits to be full of him...

Re: Revolutionary Girl Utena

I put this on-hold. I know people love Utena to death, but I couldn't pass through it. Cheap homoerotic romance, cutesy absurd plot and magical girl parody isn't my thing. Maybe one day I'll complete it, but 39 episodes of this is like climbing the Everest with no arms (for me).

Re: Death Note

I agree that the ending of Death Note was pretty rushed, but I don't dislike it at all. Light was so full of himself and so confident that, when he realized he fuckd it up, he panics and became the psychopath pussy he always was. I also like Matsuda killing him, because he proved that not only is a ...

Yeah. Even though I have my problems with EoE, I have to admit that is totally true. I've never felt anything from the series left aside in EoE.

Re: Does anybody feel like knowing more about Armisael?

Waiting for an Eva to go berserk is not reliable. By that logic, all they needed to do with Armisael was wait for Rei to be impaled and then self-destruct. Except that meant to sacrifice a human being, destroy an entire city and lose an EVA. The cost was tremendous, so it is not a easy decision, bu...

Re: Does anybody feel like knowing more about Armisael?

Leliel was not easy to kill. It rendered the Evas completely powerless, and required the deus ex machina of Unit-01 going berserk in order to be defeated. That's because they didn't know the only thing they needed to do is waiting for the EVA to go Berserk and that's it. Hence it was pretty easy to...

Re: Does anybody feel like knowing more about Armisael?

Dunno what's going on with Armisael. You see what I mean ? Even the core is a weird thing about Armisael. One thing I forgot to mention is, whereas the other angels have a very complex form, or "detail" shape if you want (humanoid monsters or plain monsters, trippy things...), Armisael lo...

Does anybody feel like knowing more about Armisael?

Maybe it's just me, but I think Armisael is the only Angel I feel like knowing more about it, because it seems it's capable of doing things that defy all logic or explanation, like shifting blood type or shape, rotating weirdly, "reviving" all previous angels (I mean, wtf), etc. To me, it'...

Oh, cmon. You got to admit, a lot of things concerning the plot could have been established a lot better in order to make things more clarified, such as the mechanics of souls, the mechanics of Impacts, etcetera.

Re: The Significance of "Shadow Bone"

In psychoanalysis, the phallus in a woman often refers to the symbolic lack of a penis, just to throw that one out and quickly (you know, the castration of the mother and all that craziness). With that being said, I think this is just a shadow. The child (Shinji) can also symbolize castration by his...
