Anno vs. Otaku (critcism, self-reflection, etc)
I often hear that Evangelion's purpose is to expose the woes of Otaku life. I feel that this view is wide spread. Yet, I have never seen interviews with Anno go in that direction. I question myself. Is this pure speculation? Or is it my research that is incomplete? Something in between? My question ...

Re: Rebuild is shallow tangent
Does she have to be? She's no more of a main character in NTE than Ritsuko is. She's a supporting cast member, and nothing about the NTE films suggests otherwise. Shikinami fulfills that supporting character role flawlessly. I know, my English is horrible. I know, everyone does not have the time to...

Re: Rebuild is shallow tangent
How do we have two different versions of Asuka in NTE? Asuka's reaction to Shinji destroying the world in Eva Q seems in line with the type of character that was established in Eva Ha. She was established as a character who took no nonsense in Eva Ha, and in Eva Q she still doesn't take any nonsens...

Re: Rebuild is shallow tangent
That's just reiterating the complaints of those who want NTE to be a rehash of NGE because they lack the imagination to see beyond that. It isn't; things are different because it's a different story. The problem is that it is not the case. Rebuild, especially the third film, makes a lot of referenc...

I am not a native-english speaker. And I not understand much.
But the subject interests me very much.
Could someone give me a brief summary of what he saying?

Re: C.T.1290 versus Asuka. Examining the good and bad.
You do not have to like a character, no matter if most of the community likes it or not. Personally, even if I do not hate Asuka, it is not a character that marked me. And I'm doing very well. The real question you'll have to ask yourself is "Is this really a problem? ". Obviously, it is n...

Re: Did Evangelion really run out of budget?
The 2 are true there was a lack of time and moneys(and very probably ideas). Several interviews go in this direction. Evangelion staff interviews from Schizo/Parano Takekuma: I heard that the second half of the production of Eva was dreadful in terms of the scheduling... Anno: That's true. We he...

Re: Why Rei doesn't live with Gendo?
Probably for the same reasons that Gendo does not live with his son: He is afraid. Gendo has suffered greatly from the death of his wife; he concludes that more one attaches himself to some persons, more one will suffer when they dies. He sends his son to his uncle to avoid attaching himself to him,...

Re: The Satire of Evangelion
It is often said that Evangelion is a deconstruction of the Mecha genre. The connoisseurs will say rather a deconstruction of Super-robot. The Mecha genre is divided into 2 great genres: The super robot and the Real robot. Evangelion would be a deconstruction of the first genre. However, this theory...

Sorry, really sorry, but I could not help myself. The following will make you relativize your notions of unfunnys to such an extent that you'd end to think that the torture of children is funny.(Although, it is probably already the case if you frequent this forum.) https://image.noelshac...

Re: I need your help [new guy questions]
First, thank you. Really thank you. Since I read yours answers, I feel better. I finally come to think of Evangelion without thinking of this theory. I especially thank Bagheera (But you are all interresting). There is, however, one question I would like to ask, and a misunderstanding to correct. I ...

I need your help [new guy questions]
[Sorry for my deplorable English] For several months, a theory obsess me, literally, it does not happen a day without I think about it. I can not handle it anymore. I need your help. This theory comes from a video-review trilogy created by Mickael J (Mickael J is a Corsican critic, I could tell you ...
