Re: Evangelion 3.0+1.0: 2020

Khara has always pushed the Envelope when it comes to 3DCG in Anime - I feel like that's a big reason NTE exist, to fund exactly that. Is that true? Even for Japan? Wow. Now I'm positive traditional animation will die out completely (maybe with Kyo-ani as last bastion) Really? How do we know that? ...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

(Ever noticed that Hideaki Anno was never considered "Unprofessional" for delivering EoTV in their very rough, unanimated states? Weird, right? Clearly a drop in "quality" compared to the rest of the show, and he gets off scott-free.) Nah. Quality dropping in anime is quite comm...

Re: Evangelion 3.0+1.0: 2020

I think the movie is still going to be mostly 2D animated for a few reasons.
The technology is not there yet, it's a lot more expensive (if I remember correctly a 3DCG animator has a paycheck 10x bigger than a 2D animator), they hired 2D animators for the movie, Mari in the teaser was hand-drawn.

Re: Evangelion 3.0+1.0: 2020

So anyone think there’s gonna be a New Year’s surprise regarding Final? Or will they do nothing because the movie isn’t due until 2020? I expect (hope) another teaser. They were teasing some footage last month like they did a few months before the release of the first teaser. Hopefully the internat...

Re: Eva 2.XX Storyboards vs. Final

⋅ The scene with Rei's mysterious underground facility was longer. Her visit to the oversized test tube was prefaced by a stop with Ritsuko at another facility (consisting of a bunch of large pillars in a pit, in a blatantly SToL-like configuration) where Rei is showering after doing some...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

^Frankly I don't think it would have made much if any difference. The people who are mad would still be mad and AWL would still probably be whipping up twitter drama because she feels like Eva is her baby. The series has long passed the fandom nostalgia threshold where any alterations or new takes ...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

Netflix is equally guilty for this annoying situation imo. They should have informed us of their plans with the dub when they announced the deal.

I think they underestimated how invested people are in Eva (or just petty in some cases).

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

I searched Google, Twitter and a few other places for a confirmed announcement that Latin America, Italy & Spain are getting a new dub & there was nothing official I could find. The only hint/rumor here in Italy is that NGE (I presume EoE) may get a theatrical run in May. The only official ...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

You know what, this mess is actually kinda funny. Literally nothing has been officially said but there are already countless petitions, fans stalking every possible dubbing studios and voice actors lobbying.

What an unprofessional shitshow.

Re: Personal Status After Rebuild

The ending makes me feel good because it has a melancholic but positive imaginery. A slow panning upwards, soft piano notes, main characters walking over a hill together towards the future under a perfect sky. For the rest of the post... https://thumbs.gfycat.com/DisgustingHonoredFishingcat-small.gif

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

The second claim is just plain wrong. Yes, in speech, they'll call it "Shin Evangelion", but this is no different from how they'd say, e.g., "Evangelion Gekijouban" in speech instead of "End of Evangelion". Both titles are very much official. (Or have you not noticed t...

I think the ending of 3.0 is very positive to be honest, it makes me feel good.

Re: What is the significance of spilled drink shot in Evangelion 1.0?

I think it's a visual way to better convey Shinji's apaty. In that sequence he's almost literally a sack of potatoes in Misato's hands, and the drink fell out of his finger were barely applying any force to it. Misato then slaps herself because she had the impulse of harming a child in that mental s...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

I'm not sure what you mean by this. "Shin Evangelion" didn't become "Evangelion 3.0+1.0". The two titles co-exist. The movie is "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0" for the west and "Shin Evangelion" for Japan, and those are essentially 2 different titles. The general audie...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

In the end, it doesn't matter what you think actually sounds more natural to your native tongue, it just matters what the Japanese thinks sounds cooler in your native tongue. Yeah this is true. The most recent case is Jojo part 5 with the Japanese licensor changing stand names for the west. :facepa...

In Italian, "neo" means this thing https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo I'm italian, I know pretty well what neo- means. http://www.treccani.it/vocabolario/neo/ It's a joke? Italian Shinji born *41* years ago while Shinji is *14* (Kensuke is now 44 years old and Toji 50 :uhh: ) An...

Don't you "Shin Getter Robot VS Neo Getter Robot"? It's "shin" (新) VERSUS "neo" (ネオ)... *not* exactly the same thing ;-) "Nèo-" means "nuovo", it's the same information that gets conveyed (= a New Tokyo). Regarding new voice actors I won't change id...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019

If Anno, Enokido etc. wrote these words, we must respect these. Did they introduce a dichotomy (maybe purposely!) between the script and the english nomenclature? We must respect this. In Japan, english means only taste for the exotic , like the cross-shaped explosions :-) Talking about the name of...
