Re: Last Movie You Watched

Like all the post Toy-Story 3 Pixar sequels*, I found Incredibles II to be perfectly enjoyable but empty. Like Monsters University, Finding Dory & Cars 3, the second Incredibles isn't a bad movie but it's one that has zero staying power and lacks that Pixar magic. It's pure Commerce Pixar and n...

Re: Evangelion Pic Thread 10: The Society for the Appreciation Of The Premium Girl (and her friends)

Apparently - - it's their (02 and 09) first exchange in 3.33 on Wunder's hull with a flashback cut to their (00 and 02) phone "conversation" from 2.22. This site helped me a great deal. I can only hope though that Google Translate was not wrong. Google Translate is always wrong. Th...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Incredibles 2 You know when you watch something and oh what could this have been, if some one had just tried harder? If you'd just given it 100 percent and 60 that's sadly what this film is and its such a tragedy. I knew it could never top the first which I consider one of the best super hero films...

Re: FML general thread [8]

I once had half a front tooth break off while eating fries... In other news, P-N appears to be off his meds again and cranky as hell. And P-N-Girlfriend is back, spending her time vacuuming their apartment (for hours) and having (loud) sex with P-N  . Oh well, perhaps soon some new people...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

Well, I always loved the Sherlockian angle he took with the story, and the change in profession for Crane from school teacher to police constable. It made the story far more enjoyable, and the movie really benefitted from that change. Also giving the back story that the leads mother died of witch c...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

Once upon a time it was a joy to go "Full Burton" but the days of Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns & Big Fish have long past. Besides a failure of imagination - I haven't checked but I think he's the reigning king of adapting/remaking already famous works, i.e. Here's Tim Burton's ...

Re: [Literature] Currently Reading (discussion)

Took the early noon to read the final volume of Legend of Korra: Turf Wars. Highlight of the volume besides Zhu Li winning President over coward Raiko who showed his ruthlessness in terms of willing to let Asami and Keum die if it meant taking down the blimp with Tokuga containing poison gas is Mak...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

Anywho, here’s the trailer for another one of Disney’s gonna-make-a-billion-dollars remakes from 2019. From the tired mind of Tim Burton and the genius screenwriter behind Scream 3, Reindeer Games, The Brothers Grimm, Transformers 2, Transformers 3, Transformers 4 & Ghost in the Shell 2017 is D...

You can lead a horse to water you can't make him or her drink so I think its best to just let this go some people will never get Evangelion or never want to because of its themes and you just have to accept it.

Re: [Film] Alita: Battle Angel

This movie might be good or bad but I couldn't stand those eyes for more than thirty seconds, holy christ. I expect this to bomb. I had the same problem and I had this issue with Mars Needs Moms, it looks to glassy to unrealistic and I can't fix on the characters emotional response because there ey...

Or they'll just make this even though it was scrapped for good reason because this was what the Aliens franchise went for when it was dry off ideas https://io9.gizmodo.com/5950364/scrapped-concept-art-from-jurassic-park-4-shows-off-insane-dinosaur-commandos

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

I actually enjoyed Ready Player One for what it was. It's certainly the best adaptation that could be made from such a messy book & the Shining setpiece was an inspired bit of filmmaking. It's a movie that I don't begrudge anyone for not liking but I also think calling it a failure is a bit muc...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

Good trailers are becoming a lost art. There's a certain poetry to it; they have to sell you something without telling you about it and get you excited about things you already know. Studios prefer to skip art and focus group shit which is why so many trailers spoiler the whole damn movie. I agree ...

When I heard about this project and the upcoming Sonic... thing, I knew they had to be either great or terrible. It's just a trailer but this honestly looks like it could be what Ready Player One tried and failed to be. Its ironic you say that because someone sent me this trailer and I almost didn'...

I can't remember the name of the weird twerp who's the corporate point man on gutting Jurassic Park as a concept, but he's pretty open about Jurassic World 2 being a corporate-mandated stepping stone to the "Planet of the Raptors" movie they actually want to make, which will also be aggre...

IDK whether after filling up the bathtub with extremely hot water and me feeling like I am dizzy afterwards as well as having constantly shaking hands even as I write this down counts as heatstroke or not. Go to your doctor and talk to them and ask them to check your heart, as heart problems and di...
