Re: Terminator - Genisys (2015)

Personally, I would question less why they're making a sequel to it anyway when there absolutely no need to. The first two Terminator movies are classics, and the second one was a great end to the story. Not only was there no use not to continue it, but Genisys completely screwed the franchise up by...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Over memorial day weekend, I saw two movies: They Shoot Horses, Don't They? and No Country For Old Men. The former, though it depressed me a lot, has become one of my favorite films, possibly in the top five. The struggle of different people striving their way through an endless dance contest to get...

Re: NemZ Has Passed Away

I may not have known NemZ as long as most of the people who are commenting here, but I can easily tell how important he was in shaping EvaGeeks. A community cannot live without one of it's leaders.

I'm sorry I don't have any more words to say; I wish I could've known him better. May he rest in peace.

Re: [Literature] Currently Reading (discussion)

I finally made it through Infinite Jest, and, though I may sound like a pretentious jackass, and reflecting two weeks after finishing it, it's definitely in the top 3 list of my favorite books. So much detail, story, themes, and great characters all in one. I know many people are bothered by the foo...

Re: Evangelion disappointing as Sci-fic?

I see Eva as a heavily spiritual sci-fi series, an angle that hardly gets explored. What sci-fi ideas that are clear and present in the series (Giant robot, giant monsters, post-apocalyptic setting) gets turned into using those tropes by exploring the nature of human. The best example is when we fin...

Re: Serial Experiments Lain [SPOILER ALERT]

I finished my second viewing of it a few months and it certainly made an even larger impression on me from the last time I watched it. For instance (And obviously), I understood it better. Many people say that SEL is confusing, and it definitely is, but to an extent; once you watch it over and over ...

Re: Who is the EVA character you feel most sorry for?

It's a hard one to pick, but it comes down to the three Eva pilots. I would say Rei, but her becoming independent at the End of Evangelion shies me away from that. Asuka's past is one that always breaks my heart. But it all comes down to Shinji. His father is a cold-hearted person, his mother "...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

A few weeks ago, my speech teacher at school recommended me a movie that she'd thought I'd like called Garden State. The jist of it is that a lost young man is coming home for his mother's funeral, and along the way he reconnects with some friends and a girl he meets at a doctor's office (Don't ask)...

Re: Frustration with other Eva communities?

Facebook groups focused on Eva vary a lot; I've found two groups, one dedicated to anything Eva-related and another dedicated to discussion (Seriousposting), and maybe it's just because I've never been part of a fandom of a show this big that I've communicated with on the internet (Save for Invader ...

Re: Rick and Morty

I was talking with a friend who felt that the way The Rickshank Redemption handled the divorce of Beth and Jerry was done poorly, even if he felt it was time for it to come eventually. I could see where he came from, but considering how much the show subverts expectations, I'd wait to see how it pla...

Re: 1001 Animated Films To Check Out (A Community Project)

Feature films: Mary and Max- A criminally underrated stop-motion film about the connection between a little girl and an old man who communicate via letter. The Lego Movie: Arguably the best movie of the 2010's; a hilarious and creative movie that defied the expectations of almost everyone. Inside Ou...

Not Liking Eva and its Emotional Connection

This has probably been discussed in the forum before (It's expected for one dedicated to discussion on 26 episodes and an ending movie), but I've wonder how many people who have an emotionally attatchment to Eva (Myself included) feel hurt whenever someone not like it or shit on some of it's charact...

Re: [Music] The Grand Music Discussion Thread [3]

Listened to two albums last night: Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers and The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me by Brand New. EMG was definitely a solid album. Great songs, fantastic energy in the lyrics (A fantastic variety of tones and topics) and production, but I'm not as crazy for it...

Re: Hikari and Kensuke

Hikari shows herself when she's class rep. as a hard leader; a commanding presence. When we see her talking with Toji we see a softer side with her. She even tells Toji that "People probably wouldn't expect her to cook". It shows that she wants to show herself but also has to do her job as...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Because it was snowing in New York getting school cancelled, Me and my mom decided to watch a movie. Out of nowhere, I suggested 10 Cloverfield Lane. I don't why...I just did. And thankfully, I didn't regret it. The whole thing is tightly put together, the tension is near-flawless, and the performan...

Re: What kind of movies do you like most?

It mostly falls into two categories with me: 1: Strong Balance of Character and Plot Characters are for me, the #1 thing I look for when I embark on a piece of fiction. It's who has the strongest writing, acting, and overall devlopment. That, combined with the plot that's well-written ties in to the...
