A concept I haven't seen yet:

The Angels are not the only two creatures found in Antarctica. Rather, the Katsuragi Expedition also finds fossilized remnants of the xenomorph, but Weyland-Yutani takes the samples before Second Impact.

Of course, as SEELE wishes to bend NERV to its will, they call upon "the company" to assist the JSSDF in controlling NERV Headquarters.

But, unfortunately for SEELE, the first bio weapons test of the xenomorph goes horribly, horribly wrong.

Xenomorphs as the reason the F.A.R. are extinct? Weyland-Yutani as the primary supplier of heavy equipment to Tokyo-3. "The company" bought out by Wal-Mart? (this does actually happen in the Dark Horse comic timeline, btw).

And what's with Rei and her new knife trick?

Sorry man, but I think Re-Take's already gotcha covered on that. It's not quite 'waging a one-man war', but the 'Future-Shinji thrown back into mid-series' is Re-Take through and through. I didn't think it was all that great TBH, but it's still worth a look considering its status as doujin.

I mentioned this at the FanFiction Forum as sort of a "Superheroes of Evangelion" concept, except instead of giving Shinji the exact characteristics or following the precise story of the hero material being borrowed, there would be some manipulation to make it work.

A small sample of the potential "Superheroes of Eva: The Man and the Machine":

Touji Suzahara called out after his little sister, Mari. She had a tendency to skip freely down the sidewalk, oblivious to whatever came her way. The track-suited figure, sighed, yelling again for the girl in the green and blue sailor uniform to slow down. "Watch it!" he yelped. "Wait for me at the crosswalk!"

The girl turned, smiling at him for a moment, then noticed she was already a few steps beyond the imaginary border of danger and safety. Frowning, she knew her brother was right, and began to turn on her heel to walk cautiously back to the raised concrete surface. She was only seven, and the black asphalt, while a tantalizing mystery, was too intimidating for her to explore alone.

Her older brother saw it first, the navy blue sports car swinging too widely around the corner, bearing down fast. "Mari!" he screamed. Mari blinked for a moment, and then heard the sound of the engine approaching. She saw the blur only after the long pause for her head to whip around. By then, she noticed the car passing the fire hydrant only fifty paces away. Even she knew that was not enough room for a car to stop that was traveling the speed limit. But this car was going much faster.

Touji looked up when he heard another noise, something far less familiar, and far more primal.

Shinji didn't know when exactly he reacted, but looking both ways at the T-intersection with the school zone, he saw a car moving way too fast for the crowded residential street. Then he heard the screams, and the blur of a little girl scrambling for the sidewalk was all the motivation he needed. A quick twist of the throttle, and the engine roared, the rear tire practically melting as it belched blue smoke against the scorched pavement.

Misato started to slam on the brakes, but even snapping the steering wheel to the right, she wasn't going to make it. "Oh God!" she whimpered, praying to a being she never truly worshipped. Her Creator was an afterthought, something to gripe to when things weren't going her way, and the bringer of horrors she only dreamt of at night. Closing her eyes within the final fraction of a second, Misato realized the inevitable, bracing herself for all of the emotional consequences. The sinking feeling in her stomach was amplified by the sudden cold chill, to the point she blocked out the new blur charging into her line of sight.

"Mari!" Touij screamed again, running to the crosswalk. He was not going to make it, the jock realized. He could only run so fast. But then something caught his attention. A large orange and black object moved into view, approaching his sister from the opposite direction.

"Misato!" Ritsuko screamed as she gripped the dashboard, bracing herself to immediately leap out of the car to tend to the victim. She would have to be fast about it, but dared not remove her seat belt. Better the girl in the street die than the only doctor close enough to possibly save her life. "What the hell?"

The imposing view of a motorcycle, it's rider clad in black, filled the windshield. Ritsuko could only watch in slow motion as the rider threw the bike sideways, leaning into a sharp turn. His head was like a shark's dorsal fin, skimming just over the profile of the Renault's hood. For a brief frame, what little the human mind could capture, she thought she saw the tinted face shield turn towards them in an accusing glare.

All Mari could remember was a fast, snapping motion, and she was airborne, pinned tightly to something gentle but firm as steel. Touji could only watch as the rider swooped in low, snatching his sister with his right arm. He nearly wet himself when he saw how close the biker came, Mari's head only centimeters from the telephone pole at the corner, and the rear tire just barely clearing the front of the oncoming car.

As the Alpine screeched to a skidding stop, the car swinging around, Ritsuko watched the rider whip the bike around the intersection in a cookie, the girl dangling by his right arm.

Shinji stomped his left foot down into the pavement as he pulled in the clutch and jabbed at the rear brake with his right. The back tire formed a smooth skid across the pavement, bringing him and the girl to a quick stop. Looking around, he noticed no other traffic besides the blue sports car. There were footsteps now, coming from his left.

"Mari!" Touji yelped, running to the rider. The girl panicked, but did not cry. She was still trying to slowly process what happened. All she could tell at the moment was that she was in the arm of a very strong, very brave person. With her brother standing suddenly at her side, the girl reached out her arms, being taken forcibly from Shinji's grasp.

'What happened?' Ikari asked himself. 'Did I just... save that girl?' Looking from the tanned boy scowling at him, to the sports car parked in the middle of the street, the realization dawned on him. The two doors of the coupe were flung open. On the passenger side, a blonde woman in a white doctor's labcoat started running to the trio. On the driver side, a lavender-haired woman stumbled out of the car, a frightened beam of shame cast on her face as she sprinted, following her friend.

"Oh God!" Misato was screaming. "Jesus! Are you okay?" Katsuragi flung herself to the ground, kneeling beside the girl. She looked her over carefully, her hands reaching out just centimeters from Mari. "I-I'm so sorry!" the captain blurted out, her eyes beginning to tear.

Touji didn't know what to say, but let the ingrained cursing he had picked up over the last few years take over. "Goddamnnit!" he started. "What the hell is wrong with you? You could have killed her!" Misato cringed at the words, taking a step back as Ritsuko wielded a pen light, flashing it back and forth through the girl's eyes. "What are you doing?"

"Checking for a concussion," the blonde answered. "I'm a doctor!" Akagi then turned back to her patient, but Mari wasn't particularly interested in a physical at the moment. "Will you just look at me?" Ritsuko frantically snapped. Again, the girl did not respond. "What are you-?"

"U-umm..." Mari started bashfully. "T-thank you!" The others followed her gaze to the man in black atop the still machine. The women didn't know how to react, but Touji had a pretty good idea where to start. His anger flared, noticing how Mari's eyes were sparkling in awe. "Are you... my hero?" the girl bluntly asked.

Shinji suddenly looked down at the girl. He had been simply staring off into the pavement around her, but now he was really looking. The girl was thanking him? What did he really do? Wouldn't anyone else do the same thing? Then he felt the other eyes on him, and being the object of so much attention did not feel quite right.

Reaching down for the kickstarter, Ikari positioned the lever, then swiftly kicked once, his supporting foot unsteady as the implications of his act sank in. He didn't know what to feel. The boy his age was shaking a fist at him, looking occasionally at his sister. It was as if the boy wanted to be angry at him for taking such a risk, but couldn't convince himself of it. The blonde woman was angry and distraught with the situation, just looking at him as if he complicated things. Then there was the driver of the sports car, the busty, but clearly reckless woman in the red flight jacket. She just looked up at him once, then back at the ground. She almost seemed to be comparing herself to him.

But in the end, as the small bore race motor noisily idled, all he remembered clearly was the stunned look of awe in the little girl's eyes. She looked up to him, admired him, and he could already tell, had some kind of crush on him, pink cheeks and all. This was becoming too much.

Wicking the throttle, Shinji popped the clutch, the bike lurching into a slight wheelie as he sped past the awkwardly parked Renault. "Wow!" Mari cheered.

Shinji started to ride faster, hearing the sound of approaching police sirens. Someone must have called in the accident, and while he was glad to give his statement, riding the bike in town wouldn't be looked on very lightly. He would probably he thought of as some kind of Bosozoku, or even accused with causing the accident. He didn't know the town, but with all the narrow alleys, he was certain he could find a place to stash the bike for a few minutes until things cooled down.

It was then he realized who the lavender-haired woman was, and cursed in tones muffled through the helmet.

Other possible variations on this theme include:

-Airwolf (Shinji steals Unit-01 after Third Impact, hiding it somewhere in the American South West near the Valley of the Gods, gets a hesitant but repenting Maya Ibuki's help, and lives as a soldier of fortune). Perhaps his quest, much like String finding St John, would be locating Asuka and Rei after Third Impact.

-The Terminator: Shinji, due to the wonders of Third Impact, ends up transported back to the post Zeurel "recovery operation", where the Shinji of the future arrives instead of the original. Heya teague-san. It sounds interesting. I embarrsingly admit that i lack the discipline and commitment to really write unless I have lots of free time and or just get in the neccesarry mood. So I dont know when and if Ill ever get EvaFlower out.

Not neccesarily, I doubt I'll ever do anything about those two I mentioned (although i might do some fanart of the JoJo one...)

Still, one fic I've been doing when I've nothing else to write is one set about seventy years after Third Impact...only about half the population came back afrom 3i, so to ensure survival there was a rush to colonise the rest of the solar system...

Meanwhile, as a result of 3I, some humans being born have begun to display an angel-like capacity to manipulate their AT Field. To prevent alarm, publically their being referred to as psychics, and 'neo humans'

A few years before the fic begins, Eva 01, unable to escape it's pull, looped around the sun and eventually crashed into a moon where she was recovered, and from her, a new generation of Eva have since been in construction, some for noble purposes, others less so. it has been noticed that the so called 'psychics' make the best pilots.

The plot follows the TSS Zesawa, as it moves through the colonies retrieving both 'psychics' and Eva, peacefully or otherwise, for an unreleased reason.

Basically Eva as a Space opera with a mostly original cast (as most of the canon cast that survived EoE would be dead by then), but I've tried to perserve the themes and feel of the original.
There are a few parallels in characters and some of the early chapter's plots, although most are for the sake of familiarity and contrast.

Only got the first chapter done, but I'll probably do more when I can be bothered...don't know if I'll post it anywhere since a), it'll likley get people complaining 'too unoriginal' and others 'too original' and b) I've no idea how I will end it.

http://forum.evageeks.org/viewtopic.php?p=206903&highlight=#206903 <-- I came up with an idea for a semi-crossover between NGE and Storm Constantine's Grigori trilogy, but I wasn't sure if I should continue pitching it after my premise kind of got picked to pieces (not that it didn't deserve it since I was still getting the hang of just how *complicated* the canon is).

What I was trying to build up to was that the Grigori, a class of Angels who assumed human-like forms (think of a whole bunch people sort on the same lines as Kaworu/Tabris), have had a hand on the leash of both NERV and SEELE, though neither organization really thinks of them as much more than mysterious and somewhat eccentric investors with extremely deep pockets.

All this was the backdrop to a side-story set during the series and continuing after EoE, dealing with the slowly developing May-September romance between Fuyutsuki and a young woman who may be a Grigori. Hey, the poor guy needs someone to help him move on from Yui and it made for some delicious irony that said young lady was a cousin to the Angels and a lot older than he, even though she doesn't look a day over twenty-three.

I've been poking at this story for almost a month now, but I'm hesitant to share it here, since (1) it's all coming out in non-sequential fragments and (2.) I'm a little gunshy about sharing it since the initial reaction to the proposal was a bit critical though deservedly so.

I�ve been working on one for the better part of a year, and it originally started off as two separate stories. The first one was supposed to be just a bunch of one-shots centered on various cast members on a single night�Gendo�s was the first I�d completed, in which he returns to a shitty apartment, watches TV, drinks, and answers three or four phone calls about different subjects. It�s lame, but it was meant to be lame; it was the portrait of a guy who had no real hope left, and who was literally waiting around for the end of the world. The second one I�d finished before I decided to merge the stories involved the bridge techs.
I decided to merge this with the other story because of the direction Shinji�s chapter took, in which I went into bizarre meta-fictional ramblings that just further convoluted what was actually happening�something that the OTHER story was supposed to be more concerned with anyhow.

Anyway, this �other� story was concerned with a television show called Evangelion, and all the characters were clich�d and over-the-top angsty superhero-like figures, and then there was this weird hermaphroditic character that was screwing around with the TV, and somehow the TV reality held sway over what was going on in the actual world of NGE, but it might have just been in Shinji�s mind all along. Well, there�s some huge bizarre revelation that happens and the hermaphrodite reveals himself to be the manifestation of� something� and the universe collapses when Kaji saves the day with a deus ex machina. I�m still working on that ending part.

The final product has some implied Shinji/Asuka tension going on, but I do my best to avoid it�primarily because I don�t really like the pairing, even though it is kinda-sorta canon, but also because the avoidance of that kind of tension plays right into Shinji�s character. I did my best to maintain the feel of solitude in the series, so I guess this �tension� is more an example of an anti-pairing, if that makes sense. I�ve been experimenting with bringing these kinds of subtle meta-fictional concepts into my writing, and I think I�ve managed to nail it this time. Oh, and there�s still all that weird TV shit going on, too.

It�s only seven chapters long, and one thru six are done�seven�s being completed but who knows when it�ll be finished. I plan on posting chapter one on fanfiction.net this week. It�ll be the first multi-chapter fanfic I�ve completed in about two years.

Oh, you mean things we're -actually- considering, not just bullshit we made up on the spot here for lulz? I've got two eva fics i'm 'working' on (theoretically, anyway):

The first one chronicles Shinji's psychological collapse from isolation, guilt, and other assorted maladies after 3I but before Asuka arrives. Sort of like Cast Away, but with all the mindfuckery only eva can provide. It's got a handful of 'chapters' done but I want to release it as a single piece.

The second is a completely unorganized collection of Gendo vignettes, just a sampling of the life and times of a bastard as one might experience them in instrumentality. There is no ongoing plot, just little story fragments ranging from a short drama to a single memorable moment... whatever suits my interest. I haven't actually written any of it yet, still on the 'one of these days' pile.

I've imagined one where Gendo wasn't a heartless bastard (but still a cold bastard) and somehow had the galls to take in Shinji. Their relationship is still distant at best, but I suppose Shinji wouldn't feel abandoned? I still struggle with how Shinji is going to change from this, but overall the effect I was thinking of was that Gendo isn't too ignorant of his son. They will not go anywhere in their father-son relationship but it won't be so stressful for Shinji.

First I should make it clear that I am in no way a fanfiction writer (or at least not yet). I've tried, but I just don't seem to have the knack for it. I was a sort of fanfic prereader/editor for a very short time, but the author I was in contact with decided on an early retirement (not an encouraging sign).

I used to read quite a bit of fanfiction, but I could never get one of mine off the ground. Sorry for the long intro. I just didn't want to sound like some kind of poser. I have nothing but respect for all the dedicated EVA fanfic authors out there.

Having said that, I have a couple of possible fanfic ideas that I don't think have been written by anyone yet.

The first one is related to my (completely unsubstantiated) theory that Gendo may have been having an affair with Naoko Akagi prior to Yui's death. It got me thinking about Professor Fuyutsuki and his undeclared feelings toward Yui. I'm not sure about the timing or anything, but what if Fuyutsuki and Yui had an affair back in the day behind Gendo's back?

I started thinking about all the ramifications/consequences and how it would affect his own agenda or his relationships with other characters if anyone were to find out about it years later. Then it occured to me that it might be interesting if Fuyutsuki were to discover (perhaps via one of Ritsuko's DNA blood tests of the pilots) that he was actually Shinji's biological father. Could he/would he keep it a secret from Gendo? Would he try to spend some time getting to know Shinji and, if so, would it result in a change of his attitude toward NERV, Gendo, or instrumentality?

The other idea I had was more along the lines of a comedy. I enjoyed watching Martian Successor Nadesico a while back, especially the whole interplay between Gai Daigouji and Akito Tenkawa and, of course, their mutual love of Gekiganger III. It got me thinking that it might be kind of funny if, during the gaps between angel battles, Kensuke started introducing Shinji to some old school anime like Space Cruiser Yamato, or other types of sci-fi.

What if, as was the case with Akito, it inspired Shinji to start taking piloting more seriously? Maybe it would affect the outcome of some of the battles or his sync ratio might eclipse Asuka's sooner. Not quite sure where to go with a story like that or whether the premise would get stale beyond a couple of chapters. Plus, I remember reading somewhere that Yamato was one of Anno's early influences, so I figure it could provide the opportunity for a few inside jokes or homages.

I guess right now I'm more of an idea man than a writer. I don't know whether either of these brief outlines would make for something worth reading. Man, I'll feel really dumb if stories like these are already out there. If they are, then it's back to the drawing board for me...

Serial Experiments Evangelion

The hook here would have to be that the Kensington Experiment (�15 years ago�) is identical to/is simultaneous with/causes Second Impact, and the Angels.

And both titles have factions operating with basic assumption that human advancement is stalled and needs to be kick-started across some phase transition to a higher state.

Visuals here would have to be those of the Knights of the Eastern Calculus. And the mysterious organization headed by Ikari Gendou would be Equites Comitesque Calculi Orientalis.

The story-telling style would have to be objective viewpoint, just like the camera, with very little direct exposition of what characters were feeling. Rei would of course be the Lain-analog, and Asuka would have some of the Arisu role. I can just imagine her being interrupted in the middle of an intense Kaji fantasy.

The analogue of the 15th Angel would of course come directly from Layer 06

Possible snippet from the first episode, as Shinji waits for Misato to arrive:

The boy rubs his eyes, as if he thinks he micro-slept. A blue car
halts in front of him, and the woman from the photo he had been carrying
is at the wheel, calling him to get in.

These are comic ideas i'm thinking of, just gotta get over the laziness:

A parody of Pokemon Red/Blue which will include Sephiroth wanting to ride a giant pokeball into the Earth and Shinji curling up into a ball at the gyms, being too afraid to fight the leaders. the main character was going to be Jack as that is the other default name in Red besides Red and Ash.

A parody of Evangelion. i only have ideas for the EoE section. the main one being; when Shinji is curled up underneath the stairs about to be shot by the soldiers Misato runs up and takes them out, then shoots Shinji in the head to try and get him to snap out of his emotional state and lectures him, then drags him to the elevator. all the scenes after are similar but Shinji is dead. so Misato gives dead Shinji another huge rant at the elevator, then kisses him, Shinji is dead in Eva01 for all the scenes, as well as the dream squences and at the end he's laying dead on the beach next to Asuka at which point she looks over, sees his bleeding head and says "disgusting". Shinji is bleading heaps all the time while he's dead

i have other things for the comics but it will take too long to list them all

Gendo, Yui and Kyoko pilot the biomechanical warmechs "Isaac" powered by the souls of their sacrificed children.

Misato doesn't quite grab that ladder rung... splat. Shinji is paralyzed by her death and is unable to fight back effectively as Jet Alone kicks the shit out of Unit 1... kaboom. Gendo eats a bullet. Oh, and the angels win.

Mari and Mana meet for a picnic lunch in the park. They chat pleasantly about shopping, military hardware, boys. Then Lilliel shows up and the die in limbo.

One where the adults are the pilots of the Evas instead of the children.

I noticed I've been spouting completley unfounded FF ideas about the place, and figured for the sake of other Topics I should make a place for them all...

So here it is, if you think of an amusing or intriguing fanfiction idea that strike you like a thunderstorm and you want to share, no matter how poorly thought out, leave it here such that others might discuss it.

My first idea was when a certain someone mentioned the Tarot Card Hierophant, which made me think of Hierophant Green, and thus made me think of Eva as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, with the Eva and Angel's as Stands

My second idea came when someone posted a picture of Shinji in baggy, tartan shorts. At first glance, it looked like he was wearing a skirt, yet the presence of a female Asuka implied it wasn't a gen-ben pic...thus I assumed Shinji was simply crossdressing. A moment later, I noticed it was shorts after all, but I was still strike by a notion of Eva in a manner somewhat akin to Skin Horse in it's characterization and how they approach the Angels.
