SEELE intends, or so I think, to elevate itself to what they perceive is a superior state of existence at the expense of the rest of humanity, who will be annihilated, using Kaworu as a manipulator of the process. His death in front of Lilith was planned.

I just got it yesterday, and I would definitely recommend picking it up. They are absolutely more interesting than XII's characters, although listening to Hope pity himself is like pulling teeth.

Limewire? Suddenly, 2003. I find it awesome that with some beginner level google-fu I can find far more than I could on that program back in the day.

I watched Harakiri, or Seppuku, the other night and holy shit, that cinematography. Being a photography enthusiast, I always take particular notice of how a scene is composed. Some of the camerawork in that movie is almost orgasmic.

some things I suggest looking at:

Some stats have more uses than others
Pushing seems too powerful... maybe str vs. target (def+str)/2 determines distance?
It should be possible to intentionally delay without losing an action
Instead of a giant list of possible orders, why not a simplified (attack action)+(move action)+(minor action) in any combination?
Elements seem out of place in eva (and you didn't use them anyway) so why not just ditch?
Mental attacks... no damage to eva, but can kill/incapacitate/stun pilot?
ATF projection options, to help protect others, as a weapon at range, limited flight, etc.
Ability to regenerate limbs/damage with a successful 'eat' attack
Chance of entering berserk state when incapacitated or suffering severe damage in one round
Pilot-specific skills... leadership, tactics, determination, training, etc.

To celebrate my debt-free-ness. I decided a little consumerism might be in order. I selected a handful of products from eBay, you might notice a theme.

Sega Dreamcast, complete in box, with AV, power, 1 controller, and a copy of Soul Blade.
Sega Dreamcast controller, New
Sega Dreamcast VMU, New
Sega Dreamcast Rumble Pack, New
Sega Dreamcast S-Video Cable, New
2 six-foot Sega Dreamcast controller extension cables
Jet Grind Radio, New

Total cost, including shipping: $115

I think that's a good deal. But for some reason, I feel like a dirty whore with no restraint.

Great find Merridian. This is, if nothing else, a definite visual connection to GNR. But I think there's probably more to it than that.

One of the central concepts of Hinduism (I'm not sure about Buddism), that that of Brahman and Atman. Essentially, Brahman is the great central mass from which Atman (i.e. souls) "break off" from and live their lives before ultimately returning to Brahman. The analogy here is that Brahman is like the Sea and souls are like drops of spray that come off it. There's a big philosophical link here to Souls, Lilith and GNR.

The allknowing Wikipedia claims that the White Tara is known in Japan as the Tarani Bosatsu, which makes it possible that someone at Gainax may have been aware of this deity. It certainly seems like plausible connection. Again, how much we can read into it is a matter of debate, but I think there's a strong case for the visuals here.

I've completed today Claudius Bombarnac by Jules Verne, which was written in 1892. The book is also known in the US as The Adventures of A Special Correspondant. The Novel is one of Verne's lesser works. It is a rather straightfoward adventure tale of a train and its passengers traveling across central Asia to Beijing with none of the usual futuristic trappings that are in his more popular books (the closest in this novel is speculation by a few of the characters that there will be an extensive rail network that will link Europe, Africa, and Asia. Outside of Europe and good chunk of Asia, this hasn't happened, though we can do the same thing by air.). I found the tale to be quite enjoyable and it can be compared quite easily to Around the World in 80 Days though it doesn't surpass that book.

The only problem I have is with the text itself. What I mean is that with Verne's lesser known books publshed in English, the copyrights are expired and what the publshers like to do is use earlier and not very good translations. There are spelling errors, but fourtunately they were few and far between. One of the reasons that I believe that it's an early translation is that cities are spelled differently (one example being Frankfurt Germany being spelled Frankfort). Also, there was a saying in Latin that was not translated. And one of the things that really irked me was that the font is Times New Roman so it almost appears they printed it off Microsoft Word (and probably they did. I bought an inexpensive copy of A Study in Scarlet that was more than likely what it was). When all is said and done, this is a very good book to read especially if you like Verne's other works. But if I find in the future a better edtion, I might just replace it. So be careful of what you buy. Next on the Verne list is The Adventures of Captain Hatteras. Off to the North Pole!

1.01 got a limited theatrical release after 1.0 had completed its run, but as far as I know the same is not true for 2.22.

...Except that when 2.0 was shown in Korea, it had several changes from the Japanese theatrical version. Apparently nothing new was added, though, so the Korean version could be unofficially considered 2.02.

But no, no theatrical 2.22. That doesn't mean it won't be shown, for example, at Fanime 2010, which begins two days after its home video release and has 2.0's poster on its site...

Most of the "deep" (aka lolDEEP) anime art is just as shallow as your average Simpsons episode while lacking lovable characters and spefi fuck yeah interesting film tends to deliver.", which is just reversing what you said about film. I haven't seen a truly profound anime since I saw Haibane Renmei and Texhnolyze years back and while I've seen plenty of excellent ones there are far too few that I think genuinely deserves a 10.

Anime doesn't really set out to be loldeep most of the time, though. There isn't a whole slew of arty pompous wtf cartoons out there like there are films for film buffs simply because anime is more dependant upon an industry than your zomgprofound directors generally were. Try getting Tarksovsky to direct a 13 episode series, and then try pitching whatever he could come up with to a studio, and then try marketing that idea to networks AS the series is being produced, and then try not to get that cancelled because people find the subject matter & presentation either too boring or too zomgprofound. It'd probably be one of the best series ever made artistically, but that isn't going to matter if it never actually gets produced. All of Oshii's 80's material (barring Angel's Egg) was dependant upon this philosophy--the Patlabor OVA and first film, the first two Urusei Yatsura films, and the OVAs he did during the decade all reflect a sort of "compromise" between lolartsy and 'regular' anime techniques, yet each of them were impeccably shot, edited, etc. It wasn't until the 90's that he really dived into srs bidniss territory, and he followed through with it extraordinarily.

It's only a relatively recent thing that anime's been striving to be ultra deep 'n shit (Oshii notwithstanding), and yeah, a lot of the time series can fall pretty short in that regard--especially the more fan-acclaimed material like Ergo Proxy or Elfen Lied. But that doesn't negate the fact that there are some damn fine shows out there that are both marketable, interesting, well-constructed, sometimes profound (not all that often, though I'd argue that profundity in film is few & far between as well), and fulfilling. There's a lot of crap, too, but it's not like the live-action medium isn't wallowing in its share of garbage.

The more I dwell on it, the more I grow to dislike this interpretation of 'Alice'...

To put it bluntly, it was more like Alice in Narnia than anything else. The whole thing felt too...structured...and the characters just didn't quite manage to have enough 'wit', add to that a few personal grievances that seem to have no purpose (Messing up the Cheshire Cat's vanishing for one thing...and the Vorpal Sword seemed so...boring...)

And No, the 3D did not enhance the viewing (it also made the drive home traumatizing, but I digress)

I will ask one question. Why does every single adaption seem to insist on assuming the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts are the same character? Popcultural Osmosis is one thing, but really?

I've been having anti-writer's block. Have a chapter.

And yes, the Doctor is just as mystified as to why the bad guys are acting so out-of-character. There's a perfectly reasonable explanation, I'm sure.

And I wasn't sure how many bullets our newly-revealed baddie could take, so I just decided on "a crapload" of bullets.

The Faceless Evil
Part Four

A black monolith hovered in the darkness. “Gentlemen,” a voice projected from within it spoke, “we have a problem.” The number “00” glowed a neon red on its obsidian surface. “NERV Third Branch has ceased to be.”

The monolith was joined by eleven others. “What is this madness?” one asked. “NERV installations do not simply vanish!”

The others murmured in agreement.

“About an hour before the disappearance of NERV-03, an observatory in Colorado discovered a massive object of indeterminate composition directly over the same space as occupied by the EVA construction facility,” Monolith 00 explained. “It vanished immediately after the disappearance of NERV-03. Of course, the findings of this observatory will be suppressed and analyzed by our own investigators.”

“What could this be?” one monolith inquired. “One of the Angels?”

“Unlikely. As the Scrolls explain, the Angels see no point in attacking a location that does not contain a Seed of Life. In addition, the nature of this event makes it difficult to believe that this was the result of a rival nation of the United States looking to disrupt the production of the Evangelions for personal gain. No, gentlemen...this is something completely different.”

Low murmurs rumbled from monolith to monolith. Something different was at work here. Something neither of Man nor Angel...

*	*	*

“What the hell were you thinking, Commander?” Colonel Campbell's granite-chiseled face was livid. Commander LeChiffre cringed beneath his furious gaze. “Your subordinate slipped you the notification. Subtly. Silently. And what do you do? You announce everything to the entire facility! Do you have a single ounce of common sense? Now every Tom, Dick, and Harry and their grandmothers know what's happened here!” Each exclamation was punctuated by a small, wayward gob of spittle. “I ought to throw you out of this station,” he growled. “And if you dare screw up again, I have presidential authorization to override NERV's chain of command and put this entire facility under the jurisdiction of the United States military. If you even think about disputing my authority and doing something boneheaded stupid again, I'll have you thrown out into the desert. Do you understand?”

“Y-yes, sir!”

“Good man. You just might come out of this without me wringing your neck by the end of the day.”

“E-excuse me for a minute, sir,” LeChiffre stammered, stepping aside and walking into the hall. Once he was sure he was out of sight, he wiped his brow and pulled out a small black box from inside his jacket, then hurried to the most secluded area he could find.

Once he was inside the janitor's closet, he held up the black box and thumbed the red button on its side. His hand was shaking.

A translucent black monolith appeared inside the closet, slightly larger than LeChiffre's hand. The number 04 was emblazoned in red on it. “Edward LeChiffre,” it spoke. “What do you want?”

“Why is the military seizing control here?” LeChiffre whispered. “What if they found out?”

“Do not concern yourself with our actions. We have allowed the military to exercise their authority for a very good reason.”

“But the—”

“They are fully aware that without your consent, the entire Terminal Dogma area is completely off-limits to them. There is nothing available to them that has not been made known to the government already. This is of no danger to SEELE's plans. Are you satisfied?”

“Yes, sir.”

*	*	*

Within a matter of hours, the security personnel of NERV-02 had been augmented by the United States military. Tanks and mortars circled the chain-link and barbed-wire fence surrounding the perimeter above the ground, while American soldiers stood by the sides of NERV's own men at every checkpoint and entryway below the ground. Helicopters circled overhead.

“I fail to see what all this manpower is here to accomplish,” the Doctor pointed out. “I highly doubt that tanks and guns are any match against the kind of power that can take an entire underground station and make it disappear.”

“It's a psychological thing,” Kaji replied. “They want to feel protected. In control.”

“Do these measures really make you feel safer, Kaji?”

He laughed. “No. But they aren't in place for my convenience, are they?”

A trio of green-garbed soldiers marched past, rifles hanging at their sides, swinging back and forth.

“Doctor,” Kaji added, “do you have any idea what could have done this? I hear you deal with a lot of crazy things like this.”

“If I knew all the data, I might be able to think of a hypothesis.”

“Hm. If you knew all the data?”

The Doctor nodded. “There's little I can infer from a satellite photo and a timestamp.”

“Well, Doctor,” Kaji leaned toward him conspiratorially, “I think I've got the perfect gift for you.”

“And that would be?”

“You remember Raziel talking about how I was an agent of SEELE, don't you? Well, trust me, SEELE's been all over this incident, and, of course, I've heard a few things from them about this. I don't know very much, but I can tell you a few facts about the incident.” He leaned in closer and spoke in hushed tones. “Observatories as far away as Colorado picked up a massive object floating in space a couple thousand kilometers above Earth's surface in geosynchronous orbit above NERV-03. It appeared out of thin air exactly an hour before the facility did its disappearing act, at which time all communications were cut off. Then the object vanished as quickly as it came about half an hour after that. We didn't realize that NERV-03 was gone until we missed its periodic update. Can you do anything with that info, Doctor?”

The Doctor pondered the facts. “Did the object leave behind any energy signatures? Tachyons, for example?”

“Why?”

“Well, Kaji, appearing out of thin air usually demands a massive amount of energy, even for a small object. Furthermore, it requires traveling at near-infinite velocities, which leaves behind a tachyon signature—the mechanics are very, very advanced, so I won't bother to go into further detail about it—and so, if we knew which kind of signature was left behind, we could determine the nature of the object, and possibly even its origin.”

“Really?” Kaji chuckled. “Don't tell me you have some kind of alien reference guide, like 'if the signature is composed of this matter, the object came from Arcturus-7' or something like that.”

“Don't be absurd,” the Doctor replied, flustered. “Arcturus-7 has no habitable planets.”

“Well, I'm sorry, Doctor,” Kaji replied, his voice glum. “I haven't heard anything about tachyon signatures. Do you think this could be Raziel's handiwork?”

“Out of the question. This seems many orders of magnitude larger than anything he could do. The energy required to do something like this could power a star—and anyone who had that kind of energy at his disposal wouldn't bother with the kind of petty things Raziel has been doing.”

“Any aliens in the neighborhood that do have that kind of power?”
There was a moment of hesitation. “...Yes.” It could have been Daleks. It could have been Cybermen. It could have been something the Doctor had never encountered before.

*	*	*

A curious prickling sound filled the air, accompanied by a high buzzing just barely within the range of human hearing. It was like the sound of being under power cables.

The soldiers stationed outside were receiving a message on their radios: “We appear to be having technical difficulties with the communication system. Do you copy?” Except what they could hear was more like: “We—having—diff—stem—copy?” One soldier standing guard whacked his radio on the palm of his hand, hoping some percussive maintenance would solve the issue. Others were poking around with the batteries or fiddling with the antennae. But eventually, the signal degenerated completely into white noise.

A man dressed in black fatigues walked across the lonely desert road, between the tanks stationed on either side. His cap was pulled low over his face, its bill casting a deep shadow that obscured everything above his nose. He approached the nearest soldier, who was busy rattling around the components of his own malfunctioning radio. The soldier noticed the strange man after a few seconds.

“Yeah? What do you want, buddy?”

The man nondescriptly flashed his ID, giving the soldier a few seconds to scan it. “Yeah, looks good.” He shuffled aside to allow the man passage, then went back to fiddling with his radio.

The strange man walked deeper into Area 51. Something fell out of his hand.

“Uh, hey, buddy?” The soldier walked over to pick up the dropped item. “Looks like you dropped something!”

The stranger froze in mid-step, then turned to face what he had dropped just as the soldier began to bend over to pick it up. “I've got it.” He looked at the item.

It was a hand's worth of fingers, joined together just under the first set of knuckles. They had a slight plastic sheen that made them seem eerily fake. “What the...” The soldier's murmured exclamation vanished when he caught sight of the owner of those fingers.

The stranger's face was strangely dead-looking. His mouth was unmoving, his eyes fishlike. Staring at his face was like staring at the face of a cadaver. Where his fingers had fallen off was nothing but two black holes set into the empty

The soldier screamed; the holes coughed, belched white smoke, and turned him into dust. This did not go unnoticed by the rest of the military personnel standing guard, who immediately opened fire. The stranger slowly and methodically continued walking, turning to and fro to target his assailants and vaporizing any who came into range.

One soldier bolted, running for the tanks. He was within a meter of the nearest one's treads when he found himself flattened against an invisible wall. He picked himself up off the ground, dusted himself off, and felt the obstructing barrier. His palm met a smooth, unyielding cushion of air. His eyes widened. “Oh dear G—”

His body turned into dust.

*	*	*

Alarm lights flashed red, accompanied by the incessant blaring of klaxons. “Colonel Campbell! Our outside communications links have gone completely dead!” Lieutenant Munroe cried.

“What? Impossible! Try sending—”

“Sir! Sir! Division 7-G has been completely wiped out!” another lieutenant shouted.

“God damnit, what the hell is going on out there? Bring up the security cameras! I want to see what these bastards are doing to us!”

Security footage appeared over the holographic projection field in the center of the command center. They clearly showed one man, taking salvo after salvo of bullets and still cutting through waves of soldiers.

“What is this guy, some kind of robot?” Campbell pounded a fist on the table. “How much can he take?”

Slowly, the assailant crumpled and fell over from the constant barrage of bullets, reduced to a misshapen form.

“Yes!” Campbell clapped his hands. “Yes! Yes! We got him!”

A soldier approached the misshapen pile of bullet-riddled plastic and prodded it with his rifle. It leaped up and wrapped itself around his head. The soldier struggled for a few moments, then collapsed. The pile moved on to its next target and asphyxiated him in the same fashion. It was almost comical in a horrible, bleak way.

Campbell palmed the desk in exasperation. “Order all survivors to retreat. Then lock this place down as tight as possible.”

“Yes, sir!”

Campbell sighed. Today was going to be a rough day, to put it mildly. To put things more realistically, it would take a miracle for anybody to make it through this day alive.

*	*	*

The Doctor looked over the security footage. “Yes, I know what it is. It's an Auton.”

“A what?” Colonel Campbell inquired.

“An Auton. A plastic robot drone created by the Nestene Consciousness,” the Doctor explained.

“Doctor Smith, or whatever your name is, I've believed a lot of crazy things ever since giant monsters started attacking Japan, but this is just too much!”

“I'm having trouble believing it as well,” the Doctor replied. “This isn't the Nestene Consciousness' usual modus operandi.”

“I'd believe the Doctor if I were you, Colonel,” Kaji added. “He knows his aliens.”

“The Nestene Consciousness usually tries to take over the planet with larger numbers, starting in a less fortified area. In addition to that, I've never seen them use massive orbital devices to isolate and destroy an area before. Everything that's happening here is completely contradictory to every action the Nestene Consciousness has ever taken in its history!”

“What you mean is that there's a higher power at work here,” LeChiffre suggested. “Right, Doctor?”

“It's more than likely. Now, how much time do we have? Let's assume that the isolation began as soon as the Auton appeared. How long has it been since then?”

“About ten minutes, Doctor,” Campbell said.

“Then we have fifty minutes to find a way to stop this madness before we're wiped off of the map.” The Doctor clapped his hands. “Well, then, Colonel, I suppose it's time we get to work!”

I'm not sure what version of NGE everyone is listening to (original roars =/= dubbed roars), but the 1.0 roaring is by far more "mechanical" than the original. I wonder if I'm going to need to make some sound clips here...

Going back and comparing the two, I honestly can't say the TV version sounded any less mechanical. If you're talking about the stuff they would record later on in the series, I definitely agree, but those voices were completely different.

At the moment I've decided to take another small break from my other project and practice lightsaber editing in Sony Vegas.

Basically taking a sword fight scene from another movie and changing the swords into lightsabers. This is an example.

To start I wanted to try a simple scene so I chose the Black Knight scene from Monty Python's The Holy Grail and so far the first stage is working out pretty nicely. Doing this frame-by-frame is actually a little fun and not as tedious as frame-by-frame lip sync editing. I'd post some screen shots of the first stage if anyone is interested.

This is a small portion of what I've done so far. I am aware of some of the issues in the clip I have to fix.

I had to edit out the code linking back to somebody's previous post to make the thread display correctly again.

"Knights of Cydonia" by Muse
I was listening to that song recently, and at the same time, I was thinking Evangelion. It was a good song to match.

Plus, during the Christmas season, I was also thinking about Evangelion while listening to this:
Christmas / Sarajevo 12/24 (Instrumental)
Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Wait, what about "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by the Beatles:

Spoiler:

This would occur in Episodes 25 and 26, both TV and EoE.
EoE segments during the lines "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"
TV 25 and 26 segments during the other segments.
When you listen to the song, you'll understand what I mean.

Kaworu is probably one of the two Angels Gendo mentioned in 1.0 we haven't seen yet. As for Angel 11... its coffin could have easily been kept offscreen.

A mechanical device or sound command that removes the limiters isn't that hard of a concept to imagine in the Eva universe really. Also I think the whole animalistic, brutal side of the evangelion as a living entity rather than a giant robot needed to be worked on and I think that again it is a very effetive scene/idea for conveying this side of the evangelion.

I'd agree with this if there wasn't already a perfectly good way of showing what happens when Evas break their bonds: namely, they freak the fuck out, wake up, and start whaling on anything in the vicinity. No need to make them turn into silly-looking monstrosities of dubious bone structure any more so than they are already

Not to mention that they clearly aren't too concerned about Evas being defined as anything other than giant robots now that their one unique attribute - the whole mommy thing - is out the window. (This is a topic for another thread, but does Rei's elevator line that "Eva is a mirror of yourself" (?) imply that the souls within Units 02, 03, and 05 are those of the pilots themselves?)

That is correct.

Quote:

and thus what we see in RoE could well be a continuation of the events of EoE.

I don't see how. Seriously. Everything was destroyed in EoE and Shinji was traumatized due to loneliness and I highly doubt everyone could just instantly forget what happened.

Quote:

Remember, those who had the will to return could return at whatever point in time they wanted

When was this said? I remember that if someone had the will to return "and saw themselves within their own heart" (or something among those lines) that person could return from the sea LCL.

This is turning into another sequel theory thread. I don't like it.

Name: Leslie Tachikawa

Other aliases you might go by in game: LadyDevimon

physical description: In her human form, she's fairly light skinned, has some minor traces of being asian in her face, but is mostly Caucasian looking. Often wears black clothing/heavy metal/goth attire. In her LadyDevimon form...well, you should at least google "LadyDevimon" or have some form of knowledge regarding Digimon

Age: somewhere around her 20s

Sex: Female

Special abilities: can transform into her LadyDevimon form and back and even do "halfway/partial" transformations. in her LadyD form, she can also fly and even walk on walls, as well as vanish through in and out of the shadows/darkness.

Special Movies: Darkness Wave (Releases countless creatures of darkness similar to bats which burn the opponent to nothing.)

Darkness Spear (Transforms her left hand into a long sharp spike and impales her enemy. Can also be used as a blunt/stabbing object She can also make her claw, which is what is used to turn into Darkness Spear, go from being normal/human sized to its more recognizable larger size)

Background: Hailing from the same universe Mr. Johnson comes from, Leslie is the older sister of Digidestine Mimi Tachikawa.

One day, while walking around town, she fell into a dimensional hole that led directly into the Digiworld. While exploring said place, she ran into and gained the attention of The Dark Masters, especially Piedmon, who, at first, treated her with care, but then decided to do an experimental test on her to see if he can turn a human being into a Digimon, thus creating her "LadyDevimon" persona.

For some time (While consequently losing some of her past memories), she was his bodyguard, right until she was defeated by some of the Digidestines.

After spending some time in Digimon Limbo, she then got out and joined the Daemon Corps., being one of the members to enter the real world to cause terror. When she was killed in battle, her energy, rather than becoming nothingness, was instead sent to The Resurrector, a mysterious, enigmatic deity that has complete control over the fate of people and if its their time to die or not.

Thus with him forecasting that she still has far much more to accomplish, she was then brought back from the dead, this time not only in her human form, but also now being the age of 21. With her becoming digital data, being destroyed in the Digiworld, then getting killed in the real world and brought back from the dead, this resulted in her having deaccelerated aging.

Being naked and having no clue where she was, she crossed paths with a certain gas masked vigilante and befriended him.

However, with Piedmon learning of what became of her, he decided to cross over into the real world to bring her back, but due to completely regaining her memories (and even getting to reunite with her younger sister), she instead both rebelled and ultimately killed him as the result of a lengthy and violent battle the two had.

Since, she has been a very reliable ally of Johnson and Co., even having strong feelings towards Johnson, yet after he vanished as the result of a fairly risky fight with the Capt., she managed to find a wormhole that both Magdalene and Anneliese had jumped into. Plus, considering that Johnson and Michelle had separated some time before the events leading up to his disappearing, Leslie had finally managed to get in a relationship with him, thus not only she had to enter to find a very good friend, but also her lover

Personality: Witty, sarcastic, a bit violent and even psychotic at times, though also caring, trustful and loyal for those she has the most sympathy/respect for. Very defensive and willing to get into some heated verbal battles. Also quite sexy.

Best strength: Her determination and ability to do stuff most of her friends are incapable of doing. Also quite strong-willed

Worst weakness: Sometimes manages to overestimate her own strength and power.

Name: Walter Ellefson

Other aliases you might go by in game: Scab

physical description: fairly thin, a bit unkempt and dirty looking

Age: 37

Sex: Male

New Form if applicable: Muscular, bald yet facially disfigured

Special abilities: Enhanced human strength, finesse and precision. Also quite difficult to kill, due to having superhuman resistance to pain/injury

Background: Walter was the only white/Caucasian member of Luther GIbbon's platoon in several of the wars/conflicts that Second Impact set off. However, he had caught wind of what the government had been doing to Luther Gibbons and his buddies, thus he had planned to expose the truth to the media once he returned home, but was kidnapped by US agents and subjected through various punishing, painful forms of mental torture and brainwashing, only to render him as a lunatic that was responsible for turning Luther Gibbons and Co. into ruthless, militant survivalists.

While in Instrumentality, he decided to make his facial features to resemble that of someone who had received horrific burns as a reminder to the damage done to his metal health/state and with still being unhinged by all of the damage done psychologically, he became a serial killer in a local town owned and run by vampires.

Yet once he learned of a being called The Overlord and other beings that want to rule the world with an iron fist, he had regained much of his sanity, thus leading him to join forces with someone he pestered while still being in a state of psychotivity to take The Overlord down.

Personality: Brute, intelligent and intellectual. Mostly serious, but does have a sense of humor and will use it from time to time. Has a massive grudge towards militants/government types.

Best strength:his excellent knowledge/skills in hand to hand combat, especially combat involving knives.

Worst weakness: Due to him still having traces of the mindrape the government had inflicted on him, he sometimes yet briefly switches back to his psychotic self.

Name: Magdalene

physical description: beautiful, busty, sexy, firm assed, red skinned, horned, has some slight fangs in her set of teeth, sports a tail, has demonic wings, black hair and sports clawlike finger nails

Age: 486

Sex: Female

Special abilities: Massive manipulation of her body. Demonic possession, physical morphing, fire breath, inhuman strength and speed, telekinesis and acid spit

Background: one of the younger high ranking demons of hell (Though usually regarded as a lesser, not 100% reliable one), Magdalene is the one-time/off and on lover of notorious, widely feared mega demon Captain "Pazuzu" Howdy. Appearing like a stereotypical hot demon chick, Magdalene has often attempted to follow in her sometimes ex, sometimes lover's footsteps, though always failed due to being easily distracted by other things, yet once the Capt. was killed in a fight that left Johnson AWOL in this world, she found a wormhole that led to another world, to not only get revenge but to see what sorts of fun she can have there

Personality: Gleefully evil, deranged, sexy, manipulative, seductive, perverted, violent and masochistic. Sometimes gets a little hypocritical and airheaded, though

Best strength: Her demon attributes/powers and ability to seduce anyone by altering her looks to suit their sexual deviancy/preferences/desires

Worst weakness: Nowhere nearly as strong as most demons. Can be an overwhelmed, overtly sexual bimbo at times. Is easily distracted into doing other things that suit her interests
This. Kaworu is symbolic of the person Shinji wants to be [To me anyway] in the original episode 24 draft, Shinji states something along the lines of how he 'is a miserable person' compared to Kaworu. Shinji always does what he's told and when he goes against it, he often times seems punished [Like how Misato reacts to him when he disobeys her whilst fighting Shamshel.] He wanted to be like Kaworu in that he could have a choice and stick by it [Which is something reflected constantly throughout the show.]

All that aside its probably just used to show the gunfights have stopped and the focus is now fully on the evas
