A discussion on the Anime World Order discord dredged up an old memory. My recollection is that none of the Japanese to English fansub groups would touch 2.0 for the longest time since the only version floating around was a camrip. The way we finally got it was some group did a Japanese to Spanish fansub which then got translated to English.
Does this ring a bell for anyone or is my mind making things up again?
For that matter, would love to hear everyone's tales of the old days, wearing hats and sailing the high seas to get our tales of sad kids in robots.
How we used to watch (fansubs and camrips)

Shin-seiki used to actually have the infamous Hong Kong fansub/bootleg of EOE that had Asuka proclaiming "I know you only think of me as food!"
Rejoice, glory is ours. Our young men have not died in vain. Their graves need no flowers. The tapes have recorded their names.
I am all there is.
Negative! Primative! Limited! I let you live.
But I gave you life.
What else could you do?
To do what was right.
I'm perfect, are you?
