Box Office and Attendance
Does anyone know how many tickets these films sold? I'm only able to find the attendance for opening weekends and total grosses ($18.8 million, $43 million, and $66.4 million). I would like to get a better idea about they performed. Gross isn't a very reliable means to compare the success of films released in different years due to inflation, varying ticket prices, and other factors. For comparison's sake, Shin Godzilla (2016) had attendance figures of 5.69 million and grossed somewhere between $77 million to $80 million (depending on your source) during its Japanese theatrical run.

Up until now, the box office record holder for one day earnings was the Studio Ghibli film The Borrower Arrietty, which, on its first day of release, sold 11,242 tickets and had a box office earning of 18,672,000 yen. The release of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo broke this record.
Wald 9’s record can be attributed to Evangelion’s dedicated fanbase. The world’s first screening of the movie was held at midnight on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Shinjuku Wald 9 and took up all of the theater’s nine screens. By 6 a.m., the overnight screenings of the movie had sold 4087 tickets and made a box office earning of 7,115,900 yen. By the end of its first day, the movie had sold 10,671 tickets and made a box office earning of 18,523,400 yen.

Re: Box Office and Attendance
Final is probably going to surpass what 3.0 did as well.
Though I think Makoto Shinkai's next film, Whethering With You, is going to have such a large audience carry over from his past film, Your Name, that it should easily set an opening day/weekend attendance record in Japan. Probably one that won't be beat for years.... or maybe until Hayao Miyazaki's last Last LAST film gets released.

Shinji: "Sooner or later I'll be betrayed... And they'll leave me. Still... I want to meet them again, because I believe my feelings at that time were real."

In the respective Wikipedia articles, I presume.
EDIT: I thought pointing it out was enough, it's kind of baffling that posting seems to be less effort than doing a 2 second Google search. here

Re: Box Office and Attendance
I don't think that's listed there.
I frequent wikipedia (fuckin nerd lol).
Edit: I should have clarified, I mean tickets sale data specifically. I'm not seeing that on the wikipedia page.
Going to wikipedia is no effort, but it does consume the data I need on my 2-hour travel lel.

Re: Box Office and Attendance
Yeah. Wikipedia doesn't have the admission numbers. But I got them by request from a box office forum.

Re: Box Office and Attendance
∆ Don't worry bro.
I was recently visiting topics from the 3.0 marketing days. It's crazy how the first proper trailer didn't come out till one month before the film. And it was like 20 seconds of footage. But that month was hype enough to make 3.0 the most succesful Rebuild.

Re: Box Office and Attendance
Forever one of the most amazing things about 3.0 is how no one across the globe had the slightest idea what the movie actually was until it came out.
Everyone figured it was going to be a pretty direct adaptation of Episodes 20 to 24.
Nope.

Shows you can fill cinemas without revealing much beforehand.
