New Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcXi3ouyGkA

So, a new KH3 trailer has dropped, and finally some plot details!

As expected from her build-up in the second game, Maleficent is back with her crony, Pete, and she's up to no good. We see the two of them have a brief exchange with Hades in a world that appears to be the home of the gods on Mt. Olympus; Hades appears to be in the middle of invading the place with the Titans. Maleficent makes it clear she's not there to help him, but is instead after information regarding a "distinctive black box". Could be of similar importance as the Keyholes of the original game.

Sora is attempting to bring Roxas back? The trailer shows an exchange between Sora, Xemnas, and Xehanort's Heartless (both of whom have also somehow returned). Xemnas questions Sora about how to bring back that which "should have never existed in the first place", and that the only way would be to "call upon the darkness". Will Sora have to become a Heartless again in order for Roxas to return? Why does he need Roxas?

Not much else to analyze beyond that. The graphics and scale look amazing. Like seriously, the game looks HUUUUGE. The battles look intense and as KH as ever. I'm just going to have to get used to the more realistic graphics for some of the characters.

Looks like we can look forward to another new trailer next month, which will feature a new world. Glad to see the ball is finally rolling.

I'm kinda digging Sora's toy form. ^_^

I've never played a Kingdom Hearts Game, but I might get into the series given how FRIGGIN GOOD LOOKING the graphics for the Toy Story world are. It's like I'm actually watching the movie! (Okay, most of it is pre-rendered cutscene, but still)

It's a shame they probably won't be able to get Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and John Ratzenberger to voice Woody, Buzz, and Ham.
I’ll escape now from this world, from the world of Jean Valjean, Jean Valjean is nothing now! Another story must begin!

This is all I could think off when watching the new trailer:
"Sora! Watch out, it's a heartless!"
"WHERE?!?"
"Ghahahahahahaha!"

I'm surprised nobody's bumped this yet. KH3 releases January 29, 2019 in NA and EU. Collector's editions have been announced:

https://gematsu.com/2018/06/kingdom-hea ... se-trailer

There's also supposed to be a special KH3 PS4 Pro. I might have been tempted to get that $80 CE, but sadly, they got lazy as fuck with the cover art for the steelbook. I'd rather just get the normal box art.

Man, we've got FFXV and KH3 before the conclusion of NTE now.
The collectors Edition really does look kinda lazy. I'm not a huge fan of the Pin as well... Not tempted to get this.

I can't believe I've just now listened to "Don't Think Twice", I think I get just as hyped about the soundtracks of these games as I do with the game itself!
I do love me some Rei guns.

These just don't sound as good as Hikki's other stuff and I can't pinpoint why. Overproduced, maybe??

It is definitely a departure from her other stuff. While her music was never super simple (and clean, lol), it wasn't exactly challenging the status quo either. These new songs are experimenting with song structure, which makes them a little bit more challenging to digest, albeit a much more interesting aural experience, imh.
Don't Think Twice additionally has this "stumbling" phenomenon due to the beats 2&4 being slightly offset.
I'm sorry, for being retarted, it's not 2&4 being offbeat, it's the first beat of every other measure.
Face My Fears on the other hand suffers from the fact that it was produced by Skrillex, also it transitions rather jarringly between musical sections.

So I personally think those songs are a very interesting listen, due to lots of adventuring in how they're produced. For people who are looking for a normal pop song, they might not be as immediately gratifying as Simple and Clean was. Remember though, Sanctuary was already a departure from the super safe song writing of S&C. The underlying song writing is pretty strong though, so coupled with the fact that humans are creatures of habit and KH3 will stuff those musical motives down our throat, I think they'll end up as beloved as the first two theme songs.

So I've recently been on a big KH kick because... well, fuckin obviously. I don't have a PS4 but even just watching the dubbed cutscenes and bosses on YouTube absolutely destroyed my heart. I bawled for 30 minutes after the final boss, that ending was just so impactful. It was just a feeling of overwhelming relief, this massive saga I've experienced since I was a kid, finally had that satisfying ending. So many memories flooded through my mind, thoughts of how much I've grown since that first experience with the series. I especially loved it because the ending wasn't perfect.
SPOILER: Show
Sora and Kairi are still dealing with shit, and Luxu & the X gang are back.

Because there are loose ends, that means there's still more growth to be done and more memories to be made, in Kingdom Hearts and in the real world.

Anyways, the main thing I wanted to say was that in my rewatching of all the openings and endings, it's become clear that KHII's ending takes clear inspiration from End of Evangelion's ending.
SPOILER: Show
The two main -main- characters are stranded on a beach with discolored water, following a massive cataclysmic climax, and one is heavily injured. Because of this, I'd like to think something similar happened after End of Evangelion. Once Shinji got off Asuka and finished crying after a few minutes, they just sat and talked. Opening up to each other for real, because they really already did during Instrumentality. Being honest, they truly, finally connect. Eventually, those who wanted to come back, start rematerializing, and join them. Rebuilding the world is easy because everyone is able to communicate and connect easier thanks to what should have been the darkest hour in Lilin history.
I've reached a point where I just generally don't give a fuck anymore. In a good way.

I pre-ordered the game, but have been so busy with work and school work to actually go pick it up. plus I can't remember anything from the last kingdom hearts game I played. ...I'm not ready for this.

Uh angery old man want... sumfin. He do bad stuff. He kill he old boyfriend. Clone himself 12 times over like 15 year. Sora now a weak baby boy, needs to train and gather total of 7 "Guardians of Light" to stand a chance against angery old bald man. Disney stuff still irrelevant to overall plot. Aaand... go!

Heh had forgotten this thread.

SPOILER: Show
Was kinda disspointed TBH. I'm a bit spoiled because of Kh2 final Mix, so the lack of critical mode and no end game was jaring.

Oh!
Yeah, I played it.
It was fun. I can't say anything else about it. Some Disney worlds were better, some were worse... I never was a huge KH fan, but it was a nice experience. strong 6/10

while that is cool, I would ask what incentive there is to play it, unless they patch in a cutscene that requires Crit mode to unlock.

Which again in comparison to KH2 Final Mix you needed the Three Proofs to unlock the BBS cutscene.

That seems likely. Along with critical mode as a free update to the game, Nomura says they'll also patch in other content to the game, similar to how the Final Mixes revised their respective games with new cutscenes, enemies, items, etc. He also said that he didn't want critical mode to simply be the same version of the game with more difficult enemies, but something that would actually change the gameplay style significantly, whatever that means (in b4 KH survival mode, must check hydration meter constantly).
