Re-watching Soul Eater nearly a decade after watching it air live. A lot more fun binge-watching than I remember the week-to-week wait made it seem. The atmosphere of it is very Halloweenish which I am digging.

Today was episode 2 of Haganai NEXT which had the club watching a homoerotic film as well as the introduction of Maria's big sister Kate with whom they seem to not get along for the moment. Best scene hands down is when Sena reads out loud the lewd scene from her video game in the laptop and the beeps that are introduced whenever an obscene word is uttered. :D And I don't even know if the same is said for the Japanese audio because I watch the show in English...
And so Javert, you see it's true. This man bears no more guilt than you! Who am I? TWO-FOUR-SIX-OH-OOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! - Jean Valjean (Les Miserables)

Can't say I'm watching at the moment but interest in Sailor Moon has reemerged that I may watch the entire series soon. Or at least the Crystal adaption.

Fate/Apocrypha

I will be honest and say I stayed away from this series because I kind of saw it being like Yu Gi Oh which I hate to this day as I hated the card for every move stuff it just got on my nerves after a while. So glad though Fate is not like this in fact I like that it takes the concept of male and female heroes in history and runs with it and really clever way that's more believable than how the 80's Highlander did it, in that magic cause the switch between casual dress and weapons and armour it just fits better with characters like Jeanne d'Arc and works really works.

I also like some of the gender switching like with Mordred and that her dad is also female making the King Arthur legend even more strange yet you realize this could still fit and that scribes may have changed it from female to male due to the later medieval sexism as a female British ruler was not accepted fully until you get to Mary and Queen Elizabeth 1 period so this a very clever spin on things not being as they appear and it explains why the first words out of Mordred's mouth are "Don't call me woman."its a very clever play on the negativity of the class system as knights viewed themselves as very high up and women were considered under them and only for child bearing.

I realize that they made a lot of the guys in here look more feminine clearly to appeal to Yaoi fans but at the same time I kind of liked that as its a common misconception that ancient worlds followed modern gender dynamics as they didn't and its well known that there were men who dressed as flamboyantly as women in these periods and had just as much jewellery so in that way this also strangely works in Fates favour to shows this as a nice break from the norm. I also like that you get flash backs to the heroes previous lives of the heroes its a nice touch and allows you to see who they were and what they did and what there desires and wishes are.

Having put Shiki to one side again after the rather underwhelming episode where the doctor vivisects (necrosects?) his wife, I've just finished watching GitS:Arise (the original OVAs plus the TV finale).

As yet another GitS continuity, it works fine -- it imports some of the aesthetics of the later GitS manga, especially in the cyberspace sections, both in look-and-feel, and in that Makoto has her robot helpers along with her, so doesn't fit as a prequel to anything. That said, the c1990 vision of the world of the future (and the not-the-Iraq War) is being rapidly encroached upon by the present day (even at the time of making), and not in a good way.

I've also been casting around for other series to watch, and tried a couple of episodes of Pandora in the Crimson Shell Ghost Urn. You could tell that it was minor Shirow (and not in a good way like Healthy Drive or Ghost Hound); at least it refrained from importing all his fetishes. Dropped after two episodes.

Picked up from the backlog, 2013's Gifu Dodo : Kanetsugu and Keiji, which is being a nice change of pace after a couple of episodes.

If you don't mind filler episodes watch the 90s anime, but if you want a 1:1 adaptation of the manga then go with Crystal. Or watch both series. ^_^
