Didn't see this around so...
I don't really listen to anime scores but the rokka no yuusha one serves the show good.
I don't really remember some anime ost's standing on their own though. Much less opening and endings, internet tells me it's this guy feat some heavy metal god from Japan but it's not stuff to listen every episode or anything.

Trust me, if you want an anime series with a score that makes it famous moreso than its story, then look no further

Not exactly an anime score, but it fits!

I think Ayu's Euro Mega-Mix has appeared in an anime somewhere. At least, it should have.
Though, Gob still might look good in a cocktail dress.

So far, there have only been two series where I felt motivated to get the OST(s) -- Noir and Gankutsuou. And the Noir OP and ED are for skipping.

Other series where I've noticed the music have been Simoun and Letter Bee (the latter because it's mostly classical pieces).

Yes. I like the OSTs for GITS: SAC and .hack//Sign a bit more, though. I'm still listening to them on a regular basis.

The unofficial trilogy: Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei and Texhnolyze all have great OSTs

Also, this should be obvious, but most things Ghibli also have great soundtracks.

Forget the gay piano anime training-before-battle thing for a moment and this one is clearly the best thing out of the Q ost, I played 7 years of piano and this is not as massively easy as the usual thing, it's still just a catchy thing but I wouldn't mind trying to go fast with the upper notes of the sheet if I had a keyboard around here.

The only anime soundtrack which has actually got me to buy other albums by the same performers is FLCL - I have several Pillows albums, and the opening riff of Ride on Shooting Star is my ring tone.

I also have an album of jazz covers of the main NGE themes.

Yeah, Joe Hisaishi is amazing.

The soundtracks for Gunbuster and Nadia were really astounding as well.

Big O. Toshihiko Sahashi is life.

Pokemon. 1997-2010 to be precise. I feel it's fitting how it makes me think of the National Geographics jingle.

Naruto. Wasted most of their good tracks before Shipuuden ever came about. The fusion of traditional Japanese instruments with 80's rock cliches embodies the implacable energy the show has when it manages to put its best foot forward. That Shamisen acting like a guitar makes me giddy every time I hear it.

The one I play most is "Bokura ga ita Vocal Album - Eien". Not a single track on that falls flat.

The pieces I have copied or transcribed and most often bring out to play on the piano myself are Lilium (Elfen Lied), Conversation Heart (Noragami), Prelude (Angel's Egg), Love (Enemy Zero game), Serenade (Fruits Basket), and a couple of pieces from the School Days game.

The best anime openings in my opinion are Moonlight Densetsu from the 90s Sailor Moon anime and A Cruel Angel's Thesis.

The best ending I've heard is Otome no Policy from the 90s Sailor Moon anime.
"Winds in the east, Mist coming in, Like something is brewing, About to begin. Can't put my finger on, What lies in store, But, I feel what's to happen, All happened before..." From Mary Poppins
"For Love and Justice, I'm the pretty sailor suited soldier, Sailor Moon! In the name of the Moon, I will punish you!" Sailor Moon
"Anta Baka?!" Asuka Langley Soryu
"We fall in love, our hearts may break, we lose sleep longing for someone, but that's how we know we're alive." Usagi Tsukino from the Sailor Moon S movie.
"I'm not a nerd, I'm a specialist!!" Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic.

I love the Evangelion scores and the Ghost In The Shell and Akira scores.

I also love one track from Legend Of The Overfeind called birth of the Overfeind because its so 80's retro gothic.
