[Music] The Grand Music Discussion Thread [3]

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

Of the shorter songs, my favorite is Dolls' Polyphony with it's acapella rhythm spliced with a bit of keyboard. From the longer options, Tetsuo and Shohmyoh rank very high.

I often think that it's one of the greatest missed opportunities in cinema that no other filmmaker ever enlisted them to create a soundtrack. Unless Shoji Yamashiro just doesn't feel like doing another one. Either way, it's immensely unfortunate.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

For a show i claim to hate it does have a marvelous soundtrack! I am referring to the Cowboy Bebop: Blue CD i received today.

My definite favorite is Words That We Could'nt Say with Mushroom Hunting following closely. I wouldn't say Chicken Bone has great lyrics but the beat is dope and The Real Man has sexy drum n bass rhythm.

The one that nearly bored me to sleep was Farewell Blues. The bonus track got me out of that slump.

After nearly two decades of owning it, I FINALLY gave Fear Factory's official debut album "Soul of a New Machine" a serious listen and boy are my ears pleased with the result!

It's significantly different in tone from what would come from them since Demanufacture with the traditional extreme metal influences reigning heavy on the beat here. I think also finally seeing Full Metal Jacket some years ago helps with the spotting of sample fanservice. I know I am going to get lynched for saying this but I have never seen the first Blade Runner movie in my life so I can't really identify any samples used here if any...

My God, I can't stop listening to the cover-up album from The Protomen. I just keep on listening to I still believe, mr. Roboto, and Total Eclipse of the Heart over and over again. It is so f****** good.

I'm not usually into Christian music but holy crap the call is wonderful. I can't stop listening to I still believe and let the Day begin.
