Even though it came out last year, I've only recently been listening to more of the self-titled Slowdive
release. I don't think many people would agree with me, but it's a way better album than Souvlaki
in my opinion, which has, like, only two good songs, whereas the rest you can take it or leave it (I'd argue the second-half is complete drek). Those two songs are great though, ''When the Sun Hits' specifically is probably the best shoegaze song ever, heart-achingly beautiful with heavy guitar-work. However, this new one, every cut is worthy of being a radio single. Just way more consistent, surprising considering it's after a 20 year break.
Favourite tracks: 'Sugar for the Pill', 'No Longer Making Time' and 'Go Get It'
This one feels less "club" and more "ambient" than his usual works, and it's great. I'm really digging it.
I agree, however the distribution of the two sides if fairly balanced just like on the last one. The full 10 minute/album version of 'Everything Connected' is awesome, and even a little more dancefloor orientated than anything on Immunity
, even 'Open Eye Signal'.
Man, I can't get over how good of a record it is...
