News [NO POLITICS]

Yeah. You read right. This is for everything that doesn't have anything to do with Eva.

This is NOT an Onion article. Can anyone verify its accuracy and that this isn't a colossal joke?

Osama Bin Laden was a Weeb. Or at the very least someone involved with him was.

I doubt it himself playing those games, as he had either minors or younger members of his retinue who have to spend time months at a time keeping guard, hence the games, the cartoons, and the porn.

You know what, it looks very nice. Maybe it's just because I'm weird but it feels like freedom.

As an Austrian, I feel the need to say my to cents. So at first, people weren't sure if this was photoshopped. And I for one think it's much cooler than all those crosses we have on many mountain tops. :D I think, it's funny as hell - and I'm in the majority. Which is interesting, as Austria tends to swing on the conservative side. Then again, we have whole stretches on the Danube reserved for nude bathing.

Apparently Net Neutrality in the United States is going to be retracted. How might that affect this forum?
Life can seem a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It's never easy when so much is on the line.

The principle behind cancelling net neutrality is that ISPs will be able to charge content providers to give them some preference in bandwidth. The likelihood would be that a few large entertainment corporations would end up with slightly improved access (only slightly, because if they all pay for it, the same cake will still be being shared among the major users of bandwidth), and the rest of the world with slightly poorer access. And customers will end up paying the bill in the form of increased subscriptions.

It is a lousy idea, and fully in keeping with the American ideal that making money overrides all other considerations including commercial common sense.

There will be no targetted effect on the forum or its users; that's to say it, and they, will suffer as much or as little as most of the rest of the US-based Internet.

Would it be okay to make a forum thread about this, or would that be veering into the realms of Serious Discussion?

I wouldn't mind allowing a thread like that. Feel free.

Well, Black Friday's a recent import over here, so not really such a big deal to us. We can do shopping madness when we feel the need.

99 million-year-old tick found preserved in amber on a dinosaur's fossilized feather

the fossils will not be yielding any dinosaur DNA. The tick’s last meal was not preserved, and even if it had been, the lifespan of DNA is too short for it to be successfully extracted. Jurassic Park was based on a real study that had claimed to have extracted DNA from amber, but subsequent experiments concluded that the amber sample had been contaminated by modern DNA. Currently, the technique to extract sufficiently well-preserved DNA from amber—if that is ever possible—does not exist, as DNA easily degrades as time goes by.

You mean we can't grow dinosaurs from blood ticks ate?

Real life sucks.
