help me decide whether i should continue the effort.

Sounds like it failed the Tines test for you.
Tried giving it a chance myself, but the execution of that second episode was just so, so awful. Not worth the effort.

Do I care who wins? Not really. Will I remember watching it in 2 years? Probably not.

Mmmyup. Pretty much this.
This show has an annoying habit of having inner monolog overlap with dialogue; whilst this might keep the pace of the episode rolling, it does play havoc with one’s eyes. I’ve adapted to reading text along the bottom of the screen, but not the top and bottom simultaneously:

something about the way it looks appalls me to no end. Like, I kimochi warui appalling. Which is weird, I've never had that sensation before.

Is it the trying to look like something out of Ghibli but produced with a TV-budget and schedule backgrounds that aren’t doing it for you? Or are you put-off by Fairy-bums?

Come on, Rob. Fairy-bums are glorious.
By the way- am I not supposed to hear them clearly say “Sleigh Beggar”?

My Girlfriend is Shobitch. Teen rom-com, with lewd humour. Since fan-subbers are taking their sweet time translating the latest Seitokai Yakuindomo OVA AND film (would be a nice Christmas present for this year, as it was last year), this is having to serve as my instead in the meantime.
Gags are very hit and miss. The unappealing character design doesn’t help, there’s something about the eyes that looks off to me. Maybe if there were more Fairy-bums to sweeten the deal…

Kino’s Journey (2017). Um… am I supposed to just accept that motorbikes can talk? Or is it just the one?

Watched Dirty Pair: Project Eden after Dr. Nick mentioned it. Went with the Streamline dub specifically so I could hear the famous Braille gag.
Very silly film; the bouncy animation was nice and all but with no real stakes or intrigue to the plot I found myself yawning a lot.
The Bond-ish OP turned out to be the main highlight, unfortunately. Worth reposting the link.
I don’t think light-sabers would work this way:

If you could impale the blade that far, wouldn’t it just keep melting away at the base and…

Food Wars. With the arrival of Erina’s father it looks like we finally have a big, mean baddie for us to boo at, and for Soma to vanquish with the power of yum.
O-faces are one thing, but I didn’t expect to see traumaface in a show about battle-chefs:

Hilarious. I love this cartoon.

Yes? As I recall he has far more character in the original, which since you ask I presume (to my surprise) you haven't seen.

Or is it just the one?

A second one spoke in a recent episode.

Sounded more like ベッグ to me. Trouble is, if it is actually some Gaelic phrase, and not a coinage for the series, guessing the actual spelling will be a fun game (the more complicated converse of finding out that Lioslath of the Sidhe is actually Leslie the Elf).

I found this: 'In the English adaptation, Chise is referred to as a "sleigh beggy" instead of a "surei bega". This in itself is a slight Cultural Translation, as it's the English spelling of the Manx Gaelic term "sleih beggey", a type of fairy.'

Also: 'The Irish expressions “the Gentry” and “the Gentle Folk” were not bestowed on the Manx fairies as a body, or at least they have not survived; neither has any other title which might testify to their physical or social superiority. They were the “Sleih Beggey,” the Little Folk – the right sort for such a little island.'

Given that the series is set in Britain - in the West when not in London - this seems quite appropriate.

Here are the series I'm actively watching right now:

Outlaw Star
Kinda similar-yet-different to Cowboy Bebop, sort of like turkey is to chicken, or oranges are to tangerines. If you're looking for a groundbreaking, original story, you won't find it here. Normally, rehashed character types and settings are something I look down on in TV shows, since they often mean the writers are using convention as a crutch at the expense of creativity. Outlaw Star is an exception for two main reasons. One, there just aren't all that many shows like it. The other is that it cycles between genres. Space opera, hard sci-fi, fantasy, martial arts, they all get their turns at bat, and it transitions well between them.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
I was a latecomer to the whole Gundam craze (as I so often seem to be with anime series--I was also late to the party with Pokemon and Evangelion), so the first series I watched was Advanced Generation--which isn't as terrible as everyone says. Iron-Blooded Orphans, though, blows it out of the water. It's the first Gundam series to air in English in over a decade, and it deserves to be.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
You know the story: basically Indiana Jones meets Fist of the North Star. Guys (and it really is mostly guys; the female characters never seem to stick around long) traveling around the world and getting into various japes and scrapes with both supernatural and human enemies while searching for ancient artifacts. All it's missing is Harrison Ford. If any anime were actually begging for a live-action Hollywood movie version, it would be this one. But no, we have to settle for Scarlett Johansson as an anorexic robot.
Life can seem a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It's never easy when so much is on the line.

Episode 106 of Sailor Moon S.

Felt like skipping over to how Haruka and Michiru met and it was so sentimental. At first it seemed like Michiru was being a creeper but as the flashback with the demon looking like something out of a tentacle hentai unfolded, hearing her pour her heart out to Haruka was so deeply touching that it makes me appreciate the couple as something worth protecting.

Why is anime so bad but Nichijou so good? Can't stop re-watching this show.

If I may ask, what is it that you find engaging about Pokemon?

The anime, I find nothing engaging about whatsoever. OK, maybe not nothing--it's always funny to see the lines from it that have become memes nowadays like "AIM FOR THE HORN", and the 20th anniversary movie was actually good. But taken as a TV show in its own right, it just doesn't hold up. When I said I got into Pokemon late, I was talking more about the games. I started late with Sapphire, during the time when the franchise was in the doldrums.

Not gonna disagree I did like love the idea of the ships having space arms to fight with though and Starwinds magic cap gun interesting and I love the episode Hot Springs Planet Tenrei because of how it totality gets it own back on the three perverts in one of best fuck you's ever put to screen. Not gonna lie though I utterly hated that they tried to force a toxic romance between Henry MacDougall and Melfina it was really horrible, creepy and vile on every level and shouldn't have been put to screen as his actions make him helping her at the end of the series seem so fake as he treated her so badly hence any redemption just wasn't believable in my view.

I saw the last 4 episodes of Please Teacher in dubbed form yesterday. Still one of my favorite dubs ever though I wish I knew why Melissa Fahn was replaced in the role of Kaede for the remaining episodes by Rebecca Forstadt?

Episode 15 of Cowboy Bebop. Until I saw it today, I always thought that Whitney's middle name was Elias instead of Hagas. Nice to get a little backstory on Faye, however disjointed it looks so far.
