And here I was thinking the preference would lean toward Connery for best Bond actor. It's nice to see some diversity in your answers, for each of the questions.

As far as title songs go, no disrespect to Adele, but i think that Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better, Duran Duran's A View to a Kill, and Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die were all more deserving of Oscar wins. Come to think of it, I don't think ANY of those were even NOMINATED.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

Feel free to inform me if this has been posted before. It's from Adi Shankar the guy who produced the controversial Power/Rangers short fan film. and even though it's just told with storyboards It's actually deeply moving.

The concept is centered around the 1960's Sean Connery era James Bond in the modern age, and what happened to him after he was retired from service when the end of the cold war and technological advancements render his brand of espionage obsolete.

It's really cool. Think about what if a James Bond movie was directed by Robert Rodriguez in his prime.

I watched that a month ago. It's really cool, but I don't forsee them making a Bond movie THAT gritty.

It could work as it's own product, as a standalone property. The concept holds some potential. An old Cold War spy who's been disowned by his country and the changing world/political environment, becoming a Bond villain out of pure despair. I like the concept. If it was done right, it could be to the spy genre what Evangelion is to the Giant Robot Genre.

Anyone see Spectre? Thoughts?, I'm gonna watch it soon so I am curious.

View Original PostGuy Nacks wrote:and how botched the third act of The World is Not Enough was.

How so?
I hold TWINE as the most underrated Bond film honestly.

PROS
--Electra is the 2nd best seductress of the series... possibly the best, Xenia was a bit over the top.
--Solid male villain in Renard.
--Fantastic pre opening credits sequence & boat chase.
--Good ski chase.
--More use of the fun Russian gangster.
--Brosnan being awesome as usual.
--Good sub plot & use of M.
--Great score.
--One of my top favorite opening songs of the franchise.
--Richards looks damn good.
--Torture chair was a fantastic sequence.
CONS
--Richards is a poor actress, I personally think she is not as horrid as people say, but she is poor especially when she is meant to be playing a nuclear scientist.

2. Best Bond actor?
3. Best Bond girl?

1.) Casino Royal or Skyfall probably...
2.) Craig does the best grit/action/emotion & Pierce Brosnan had the best Charisma.
3.) Cary Lowell or Eva Green.

Starts out promising, but ends in total disaster. You can read my full review on Awesomely Shitty.

I liked Spectre but I felt like it was really rushed and full of retcons and the romance angle made no sense at all.

It looked really cool, there were pretty girls and things blew up. 6.5/10.

Why didn't they tease Spectre the whole way? The organization didn't really have any sense of gravity or character because it just shows up out of nowhere and Blofeld baffling claims to be behind everything and there's a bunch of stuff about him being Bond's adoptive brother or something?

It feels like a sequel to an alternate universe series of Craig Bond films where Spectre was the big bad all along.

The evil organization, Quantum, from Craig's first two films was meant as a replacement for SPECTRE since the producers couldn't get the rights to SPECTRE at the time. Once they had the rights back, they thrust SPECTRE right back in without any proper resolution for Quantum. They mentioned something about it in an off-hand manner in "Spectre" but it was so shitty I can't even remember it.

I remember hearing something like that, yes. The rights to James Bond are an interesting thing.

They could have handled it better, though. Honestly they tried too hard to smash it into one movie. I'd rather they just kept going with this storyline rather than go with new actor = reboot, or just do soft reboots. I fucking hate continuity and its effects on serial storytelling like this, its' the same thing that ruins a lot of comics.

This is the thing with being a long-time James Bond fan, you have to accept that continuity does not exist.

I accept it. My body is ready. Just give me a cool story, I don't care if it contradicts the last movie and I double dog don't care if it contradicts one that came out in what, 2006?

As far as the Pierce Brosnan films and I are concerned, Goldeneye is a must see and must repeat frequently with interesting enough, Die Another Day as not that much of a guilty pleasure but a callback to the Roger Moore days of Bond silliness. The World Is Not Enough is slightly more memorable and better than Tomorrow Never Dies but only just. When I first got into Bond as a whole 2 decades ago, Brosnan era was where I started so I feel a special attachment to that era.

Mr. Nolan, if you're reading this, please just make a Bond film with a complex plot dripping with style and directorial skill and don't let your brother write a James Bond script about how Occupy Wall Street is dumb and James Bond is the same camp character no matter how much you grittify him, thank you in advance.

After seeming to walk back the NYT report in a radio interview on whether or not he'd be returning to the role, Daniel Craig confirms that he'll be back as James Bond.

He also said that the next film, which is due out in November of 2019, will be his final one.

I think I know what they're going to do with his final performance, since he's been so cagey about doing another one, and since he's in a fantastic position to barter with EON:

They're going to give him a death scene and have it be the first film in history where Bond sacrifices himself at the end to bring his tenure as Bond to a close.

Danny Boyle has left Bond 25 over creative differences.

Daniel Craig has always been contractually obliged to do 5 James Bond films.
The only reason the talk of "this is Craig's last Bond" comes up between every film is because talk & articles about who should be cast as the next James Bond is always clickbait catnip. If a movie website needs a ton of viewer hits quick for revenue + drawing advertisers an article about "Is Daniel Craig done as Bond/Could INSERT ACTOR NAME HERE be cast as James Bond?/ Is it time for a new Bond?" is guaranteed to be a major earner.

Comic book movie websites do it with Batman all the time because nerds flock to all things Batman.

Of the three 60s/70s era Bond actors, I know Connery did some stunts and Moore said he didn't do any of the stunts himself but whenever I watch OHMSS, I always feel like every hit Lazenby lands on another person is done with spirit and conviction and force. Perhaps it's because George has trained irl with martial artists or so I heard and not to put any doubt of credit in Connery but with him, the brute force in his battles feels somewhat staged while Lazenby definitely seems like he coordinated with the stunt people a vast majority of the stunt sequences. If I am talking out my behind, please don't wait to correct me.
