I'd just reply that most great works are viewed as pretentious in some form I mean there are people who really hate JR Tolkien and Lovecraft, what I'd want to ask though is what elements they find pretentious? Because some people just hate on things because there popular or don't understand them and don't want to understand them. If some one gives me a good reason for disliking it that's hate for the sake of hate I'm fine with it as not every show, movie or book resonates with everyone.
